Emilia Clarke Got Wasted Before Nude Esquire Shoot And Wants More Male Nudity On Game Of Thrones

Emilia Clarke just revealed that she needed a bit of liquid courage in order to do her “Sexiest Woman Alive” shoot for Esquire last year. The British actress relived the experience on The Ellen DeGeneres’ Show on Thursday. The 29-year-old Clarke, who is also Vogue Australia’s May cover girl, joked that she was heavily photoshopped for the sexy pictures.

“They just kept giving me vodka, and I would be like, ‘I’m just going to keep the duvet. I’m going to keep the sheet up. They’d be like, ‘3, 2, 1, go!’ and just yank it down. You’d be like, ‘Oh, no!”

This news comes as a surprise, especially since the “Mother of Dragons” frequently shows off her assets on the addictive Game of Thrones series. How is it that the mother of three dragons AND John Connor had to load up on vodka just to get through the experience?

“Doing those kind of sex scenes on camera is one thing, but doing it as yourself, I need alcohol to do. That’s what I needed.

The Mirror reveals that the Me Without You actress told Degeneres that she felt as if she had to do something useful with the “Sexiest Woman Alive” title, like opening supermarkets, and she plans on making the most of the title she acquired last November until her reign is over.

That level of humility is hard to swallow from someone who has had some pretty revealing scenes as Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen. Despite the worldwide popularity of her character and the huge success of Game of Thrones, Emilia is grounded, funny and self-deprecating, characteristics that make her appealing and approachable. She admits that she “still doesn’t quite see” how huge the show is, and perhaps it is her ability to gloss over the phenomenon that she exists in that keeps her from taking herself too seriously. Or perhaps it is too much vodka. Regardless, her pictures are always stunning.

“That’s me drunk. That’s me Photoshopped and drunk.”

Apparently, the reigning Sexiest Woman Alive already has a platform, which she shared on Thursday’s Conan: she would like to see both sexes have equal nudity time on the screen. Her character and the other female cast members on HBO‘s hit series Game of Thrones spend more time without their clothes than the men. She joked that it had been a long time since Khal Drogo and she wants to see more men objectified.

“I think there should be equal nudity. There is plenty of female nudity, myself included.

Conan’s sidekick Andy Richter joked that the name of the show could be changed from Game of Thrones to “Game of Bones.” Clarke kept the banter going by saying her new cause was “Free the Penis,” a notion they all agreed wouldn’t go over well in most workplaces.

Emilia is just as mesmerizing with her clothes on. Her recent appearance at the MTV Movie Awards had everyone talking about her quirky Miu Miu dress that Clarke admits was her humorous homage to the Game of Thrones season six “Faces” poster. Emilia Clarke and the rest of the Game of Thrones cast return for Season 6 on Sunday, April 24, on HBO, and look for her Vogue Australia cover, out April 18.
