‘The Sims 4’ Leak Prompts Game Pack Announcement

If you happen to be a fan of the blockbuster simulation series The Sims, put Tuesday, April 19, on your calendar. Because the development team behind The Sims 4 is making a big announcement.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, fans of the long-running simulation series The Sims have been waiting for news on the next release for the current game generation. Any hopes of a release were dashed in March when developers revealed that there would be neither a release nor an announcement in March 2016. A survey released by the development team gave fans hope that the next expansion pack might be The Sims 4: Pets. Now it seems that an official announcement is coming, and it will cover the next few months worth of content.

It all started on April 11. Trevor Lindsey, a gameplay engineer for The Sims 4, sent a cryptic tweet to his 10,000 eager followers.

On the official forums, a few fans pointed out that after the release of The Sims 4: Get Together, Trevor began work on the third, as yet untitled, game pack. Fans of The Sims 4 scrambled to decode Trevor Lindsey’s hashtag hint. It seems that fans of The Sims 4 have been down this road with the dev team before. And in previous hashtag hints, each hashtag corresponded with a single letter.

The most obvious answer for pop culture savvy players seemed to be “Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!” but those letters don’t correspond to the second group of hashtags.

One user suggested, “Anger and bleakness and grief, oh my! Time to be a psychologist.” Which could be possible if Maxis intended to release a game pack to supplement The Sims 4: Get to Work.

One user suggested, “Hosts and waitstaff and chefs, oh my! Time to be a restaurateur,” which actually might be the most accurate guess.

On February 15, Dave Miotke, a producer working on The Sims 4, gave fans a hint when they asked him about future content. Miotke’s tweet was less cryptic than Lindsey’s and seemed to hint at a tasty theme to the next The Sims 4 era release.

Given that, all signs suggest that when the next game pack drops, players will have a world of culinary delights for their sims to explore.

On April 12, something strange happened behind the scenes with the international marketing team behind The Sims 4. According to fan site SimsVIP, the team that manages the official Sims 4 Latin America Facebook Page started chatting with fans.

Reportedly, the team suggested that players sharpen their culinary skills. Which further suggested that the next game pack will be restaurant related. The employee behind the Facebook page also revealed a few more tidbits. It seems that the long delay between releases wasn’t part of the plan, but was the result of a stuff pack being delayed. Unfortunately, the employee also shut down any rumors about pets or toddlers showing up in future expansion packs.

The Sims Gurus based in North America aren’t happy about the recent leak. In a statement on the official forums, SimGuruDrake, global community manager for The Sims, distanced the development team from the comments. SimGuruDrake reminded users that official announcements would only come from the North American team. But it’s hard to discount the comments made by the Latin America team, given that they fit so well with hints fans have already been given.

For the moment, the only information fans of The Sims 4 can bank on is that there is a game pack coming, and it will be announced April 19. But after you finish the Spring Challenges, it may be worth it to have your sims spend some time in the kitchen. Just in case.
