Meghan Trainor Claims Jennifer Lopez & Dr. Luke ‘Ain’t Your Mama’ Backlash Is ‘Ridiculous’

Meghan Trainor is publicly defending Jennifer Lopez after the singer faced serious backlash for working with producer Dr. Luke on her new single, “Ain’t Your Mama,” and revealing huge new details about Jennifer’s upcoming ninth studio album.

Trainor, who co-wrote “Ain’t Your Mama,” spoke out about the “ridiculous” drama that Lopez faced over the song in a new interview with Official Charts UK, where Meghan admitted that the hate Jennifer Lopez got after dropping the new song on April 7 “wasn’t fair.”

“[It was] not fair on her, not at all,” Trainor recently said of Jennifer, admitting that Lopez was actually unaware that Dr. Luke was involved in the project when she first heard the song.

“I texted her the song and she had no idea,” Meghan admitted, “she thought I did it alone by myself at my house, which a lot of people think because I do do that.”

“I felt terrible when Jennifer got all the hate for [‘Ain’t Your Mama’], and it’s just all ridiculous,” Trainor said of the drama that surrounded Lopez’s most recent single this week. “It’s such a big song for her.”

Lopez was slammed by a number of fans online after the new track dropped last week after several social media users blasted Jennifer for working with Dr. Luke while he’s embroiled in a legal case with pop star Kesha, who previously claimed that the producer raped and sexually assaulted her.

A number of social media users slammed Jennifer online after the song was released, with some revealing that they’re planning on boycotting both Lopez and the song due to the association with Dr. Luke.

“I am boycotting @JLo’s new single ‘Ain’t Your Mama’ because it is produced by @TheDoctorLuke. Do not support rapists. #SaveKesha #FreeKesha,” Kesha fan @musicnews_kesha tweeted on April 8, while @jenni_price tweeted, “LOVED @JLo #Aintyomama… until i realised Dr Luke helped produce…not cool #boycott #freekesha.”

“Don’t go to @JLo’s Vegas shows! Don’t download her new music! BOYCOTT HER!” @BeautyOfGaga77 wrote.

Twitter user @David_William22 revealed on the social media site that he was “[r]efusing to listen to @JLo new song #AintYourMama it was produced by the devil himself #DrLuke #boycottJLo #FreeKesha.”

Jennifer Lopez has yet to speak out about the backlash facing her newest release, although Meghan Trainor did get candid about Lopez’s upcoming album in the new interview.

Trainor teased to Official Charts UK that Jennifer’s new album is “night and day” different to her previous release, A.K.A., which received mediocre success around the world.

“After the last album, I’ve been listening to this new album and I’m like, it’s night and day,” Trainor told the site of Jennifer’s as-yet-untitled upcoming release. “The music is there, the melodies are there and a lot of my songs are self-empowerment songs, and she loved that about my writing.”

Meghan also revealed in the new interview that Jennifer Lopez will likely cut at least three of her songs on her new album, which is expected to hits shelves later this year.

“LA Reid wants me to work with her on this new record because we’ve had so much success,” Meghan Trainor continued of Lopez’s new album. “I gave her three songs so far, and [‘Ain’t Your Mama’] was one of them. For American Idol they were like, this is the best one that mixes with Let’s Get Loud, so they combined it.”
