Jada Pinkett Smith Not Divorcing Will Smith

It seems as though every few years reports come out that Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith are headed towards a divorce. However, Pinkett Smith sat down with Essence magazine to say “enough already!”

The Smiths have been a power couple since 1997 when they wed, and, since then, they have both said that “divorce is not an option” and instead would rather “work through” their issues with each other. Nearly 16 years after the couple said ‘I do’ they’re still together and provide each other with a powerful support system.

Jada Pinkett Smith, 40, sat down with Essence magazine to talk about the strong family unit she has and what that means to her, saying of the rumors surrounding her marriage: “It’s rumored that we’re getting a divorce. But no. We’re not getting a divorce. Where am I gonna go? Where am I going to go?” Pinkett continues to speak about her partner Will. “That’s my boo. It’s like he’s another part of me.”

Living her life in the spotlight with her children has had some consequences. Her daughter, Willow, started her music career in hopes of being in the spotlight just as much as her entertainer family which includes older brother and actor Jaden, 12. Willow broke out with a few hits on the radio, and, since then, her independent style that consists of a tongue ring and a bleached blonde shaved head has been criticized.

“How people feel about Willow is how people feel about Willow. But what I’m most concerned about is how Willow feels about herself,” Jada says. “She’s an independent, courageous, genius, talented little girl. I’m happy for her, that she can just be who she is.”

In the past rumors of both of the Smiths’ sexuality has been questioned as well as the two being in an open marriage. In 2011, it was reported that Jada Pinkett Smith was hooking up with her HawthoRNe costar Marc Anthony, a claim that both parties denied. Of the rumors, Jada has said, “Will and I know the truth. We’re waiting peacefully for the storm to blow over.”
