Scott Eastwood Joins ‘Fast 8’ Cast, Pays Tribute To Paul Walker

Scott Eastwood has officially confirmed that he will be joining the cast of Fast 8.

On Monday, April 11, in a lengthy Instagram post, Eastwood shared the exciting news while paying tribute to his fallen friend and fellow actor Paul Walker.

“It’s hard to put into words how excited I am for the next Fast & Furious,” Eastwood wrote. “To me, the series is so much more than just a franchise. It’s a legacy. These great actors who have been in it together for so long have become a family. I absolutely can’t wait to join it.”

Scott then went on to give a few details about his character. While he couldn’t reveal much, he did say he will be playing a character that will be operating under Kurt Russell, who Eastwood admits was a childhood hero of his. Russell will be reprising his role as Mr. Nobody from Furious 7.

“Now I can’t say too much, but I get to play a new character who operates under Kurt Russell in the movie, which is incredible, because Kurt was a total childhood hero of mine growing up,” Scott continued. “Very much looking forward to learning a thing or two from such an original and cool guy.”

Scott concluded his post by recognizing his friend Paul Walker, who played the character Brian O’Connor in the first seven films before he unexpectedly died in a fiery car crash in 2013.

“Paul was a close friend of mine. We surfed together, traveled together, and he was a huge role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger. He still is. He was an older brother to me. For me to be able to add to the F&F story, Paul’s story, and the FAST family is like a dream come true.

“Gary Gray and Neal Moritz – I can’t wait to get started and dive in. Vin – thank you for the support and the insight. Paul – I am going to make you proud. #F8”

Universal also made the announcement, via Twitter, saying, “Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody has a new protégé Welcome @ScottEastwood to the Fast family.”

In addition to Scott Eastwood, Charlize Theron recently announced that she would also be joining the Fast 8. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the Mad Max: Fury Road star confirmed her role in the upcoming film earlier this week. Helen Mirren, Angelina Jolie and Ruby Rose are also rumored to have parts to play, although those rumors have yet to be confirmed.

Along with the new Fast 8 movie, Scott is also staying busy with his upcoming films Suicide Squad, Snowden, and Ben Affleck’s Live by Night. Fast 8 is expected to hit theaters on April 14, 2017, so fans will have a year to wait in suspense.

Fast & Furious fans are thrilled that a new heartthrob will be joining the cast for the latest installment. Are you excited to see Scott Eastwood in Fast 8? Leave your comments below.
