‘Real Housewives Of NY’ Debut Weaves Drama & Trauma: Bethenny Frankel Creates RHONY Eating Disorder Controversy

The Season 8 debut of The Real Housewives of New York City succeeded in creating a combination of drama and trauma, with more than its usual quota of bombshells. Even the new gal on the RHONY city block, Julianne “Jules” Wainstein, came in for her share of shockers, reported Us Weekly.

But it was RHONY star Bethenny Frankel who appeared to dominate the scene, along with Ramona Singer. While Singer dealt with her breakup quickly, Frankel wasn’t so fortunate. However, Bethenny preferred to focus on more interesting topics.

“She’s got some new titties,” commented Frankel about Singer. “She’s got some new clothes. It’s hunting season.”

Also entering the RHONY dating discussion was Luann de Lesseps, who visited Sonja Morgan for what initially seemed like an adult version of a slumber party, but then turned out to be an opportunity to date. Sonja stipulated that Luann was not allowed to conduct a sexual encounter in her daughter’s bed.

Even though the title of the reality TV show isn’t Real Housewives Of Sex City, several conversations did focus on sex. Bethenny announced that she had not had sex recently, clarifying the problem.

“When you’re in your 40s, dating is much more difficult. I don’t want anyone in my bed because then I have to get them out, and I have no interest in sleeping somewhere else.”

Frankel then contrasted that situation to having sex at 20, revealing her unusual insights on the topic.

“When you’re 20, you don’t care about having your underwear in a brown paper bag and running across town in a taxi,” claimed Bethenny. “Now I don’t want someone past my doorman.”

In addition, both Ramona and Frankel got snarky about Sonja Morgan. Both RHONY stars alleged that she drank too much, while making it clear that they disliked John.

As for checking in with Carole Radziwill, she was ready to mark her one-year anniversary with Adam, her boyfriend. Carole also confessed that she had gotten into “nesting” and even added a puppy to her life.

Just one possible problem in the future, however, looms big, because Adam is heading off to Ethiopia without Carole. Fortunately, she has her puppy, who she named Baby.

As for the major controversy on the premiere of Real Housewives Of New York? Slender Bethenny informed viewers that she feels Jules is too slim.

“She looks like a really thin girl — like, she looks like there is an issue,” Frankel revealed to the camera. “I wrote a book called Naturally Thin. This is not naturally thin. It’s the kind of thin that makes people around you uncomfortable. I never had an eating disorder. I had a mother who had an eating disorder, and I’ve been around it, and I understand it.”

Bethenny then got questioned about implying that Jules has an eating disorder on Watch What Happens Live, according to People.

The question came from a caller who was curious about the way that Frankel gives into her tendency to make life uncomfortable for new cast members of Real Housewives Of New York.

“We have a little bit of a rocky road. Ultimately we’re okay, but listen, they come in and I say what I think. It doesn’t matter if you’re new or old,” Bethenny defended herself. “I have ripped Ramona [Singer] and Luann [de Lesseps].”

As for her comment about Wainstein and her weight, Frankel added a clarification to Andy Cohen.

“She’s beautiful. And she has a credit card. So there’s that,” summed up Bethenny.

Questioned as to whether she sees herself as a judgmental person after Watch What Happens Live, Frankel also contended that she has a goal of making “people accountable.”

In addition, Bethenny had linked her comments to her mom Bernadette’s eating disorder.

“Wainstein reminds me of… mom. It freaks me out a little bit,” added Frankel.
