Leonardo DiCaprio’s Got His Oscar: Here’s What He’s Focusing On Now

Leonardo DiCaprio is now focusing his attention and considerable star power on the environment, with the aim of raising awareness against deforestation. People reported that the Revenant actor travelled to Indonesia to focus on environmental conservation and issues relating to endangered species.

Leonardo DiCaprio is dominating the awards circuit after winning an Oscar in the Best Actor category for his role in the movie The Revenant, an epic film which includes issues about fur trapping and revenge. Critics have appreciated the direction of Alejandro González-Iñárritu and the stellar performance by Leonardo DiCaprio to create a masterpiece. In fact, Leonardo DiCaprio has pushed himself to the limits to deliver the best as an actor.

And with that accomplishment under his belt, Leonardo DiCaprio is now aggressively urging people to save the dying ecosystems. The cause of protecting the ecosystems is one which is close to his heart, and his passion has motivated him to set up the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which aims to protect and save the planet, its natural ecosystems, and the animal life that thrives on it.

The What’s Eating Gilbert Grape actor posted a photo of himself along with fellow environmentalists and two endangered elephants on social media.

The rainforests of the Leuser Ecosystem are considered the world’s best remaining habitat for sheltering the endangered Sumatran elephants, whose fight for survival is at a critical stage, while also serving as a shelter to orangutans, tigers, and rhinos.

Leonardo DiCaprio has been a crusader for global environmental issues, and in particular is strongly against plans to destroy the Leuser rainforest habitats for commercialization, as the deforestation will threaten the survival of the elephants and other animals living in the rainforest. The expansion of the palm oil plantations is causing deforestation, which is detrimental as the Sumatran elephants still use the rainforest to guide their migratory paths, which will be erased due to deforestation. Elephants use these migratory corridors to search for food and water. The Leuser Ecosystem also provides clean water to those living locally, and the ecosystem is also instrumental in protecting the region from natural disasters. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation is tackling the problem by partnering with local environmentalists to set up a large wildlife sanctuary in the Leuser Ecosystem.

Leonardo DiCaprio may be playing the role of an environmental conservationist in real life, but in movies, he has played a wide range of roles from a romantic hero to a deadly villain. Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest movie, The Revenant, shows him portraying a character that is, at times, downright brutal. In fact, the characters that he plays and the weapons that he uses on screen have left an indelible mark on Hollywood. Forbes reported that the gun that was used by Leonardo DiCaprio in The Quick and the Dead was featured in Hollywood Arsenal, a series by artist James Georgopoulos, who has photographed the actual guns that were used by Hollywood’s biggest celebrities in their famous movies.

In other news, Leonardo DiCaprio has a serious personality which has not been affected by the different moods and emotions he has portrayed in his movies. Recently, Entertainment Online reported that James Corden played a prank on Leonardo DiCaprio on his Late Late Show during the Carpool Karaoke segment.

Carpool Karaoke is arguably one of the most well-known segments on the show, where James Corden drives along with a celebrity who sings along with the music currently played on the car radio. James played the prank by using Jennifer Lopez’s phone to send flirtatious messages to Leonardo. The message to Leonardo DiCaprio said that Jennifer Lopez wanted to relax and needed to “cut loose.” The Revenant actor immediately replied with a note suggesting that Jennifer Lopez should go out clubbing with him, unexpectedly calling her “boo boo.”

“You mean tonight boo boo, club-wise??”

And it is no wonder that Leonardo DiCaprio is such a popular personality amongst his friends, fans and also amongst the environment conservationists with whom he is passionately working. Despite the various roles he has played, Leonardo DiCaprio takes his work very seriously and this attitude has enabled him to climb to the top of his game.
