Michael Jordan’s Spurs Return? Why?

Michael Jordan’s Spurs return? Is the basketball elite coming out of retirement? That’s the word on the street and the rumor circulating social media outlets. “Jordan’s back!” However, hold on before you jump for joy. Things might not be as they seem.

Michael Jordan‘s return to basketball has been old-school fanatics’ dreams. And according to The Kicker, Michael has signed a special contract with the San Antonio Spurs. Supposedly, this is a 10-day contract in order for Jordan to participate in the game against Golden State. The source states as follows.

“Retired six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan has reportedly joined the San Antonio Spurs on a limited contract in order to help keep the Warriors from beating his Chicago Bulls’ record of 72 wins during the ’95-’96 NBA season.”

Would Jordan really be that petty? Although the source states that Michael is still in great shape and could “still throw down,” Jordan probably has no idea about this alleged 10-day contract with the Spurs.

Interestingly enough, the alleged Michael Jordan information appears to be satirical, as it comes from a satirical source. While basketball fans would probably be curious to see Jordan come out of retirement to square up against Stephen Curry, the 53-year-old father of six has not mentioned anything about a Spurs return.

Supposedly, Tim Duncan also weighed in on Michael Jordan’s Spurs return, according to the source. Reportedly, Duncan was “thrilled” that he was going to have some “more veteran leadership” on the team. However, Tim hasn’t stated anything in regard to Michael Jordan’s return. The only apparent thing on which the Spurs’ veteran seems to be focused is defeating Golden State — without Michael’s help, of course.

You can watch a Fox Sports Southwest interview with Tim for yourself, below. He mentions nothing about Michael Jordan’s return during talks on the upcoming matchup.

A sports informant and media source for NBA coverage, Mike Ortiz, Jr., also mentioned that Jordan’s comeback is a hoax. Regarding Michael’s rumor, Ortiz mentioned as follows.

“Just to clarify because a lot of people have been asking me. Michael Jordan did NOT sign 10 day contract with Spurs. He’s staying retired.”

Likewise, if Michael Jordan was really making such a Spurs return, maybe his daughter — Jasmine — would have also spoken about it. However, one of the last things she tweeted hours ago was that she was enjoying her bed.

So, all in all, the only “Jordan return” you can predict is the return of his athletic shoes every season. From everyday consumers to celebrities like Drake, several people adore the Jordan brand of shoe.

However, this “Spurs” talk is just rumor and hoax. The Kicker‘s site states as follows about the media source.

“Built with both the most dedicated and casual sports fans in mind, The Kicker is the web’s premier destination for unique takes on sports news of the day and video content featuring your favorite athletes and celebrities in hilarious, scripted videos.”

While this Michael Jordan hoax has spread like wildfire, you can count on not seeing an appearance from this NBA legend in the Spurs-Warriors game — well, at least on the active player floor. It’s possible that you could see Michael court side with floor seats.
