‘Law & Order: SVU’: Could There Be A Carisi-Rollins Romance? Peter Scanavino Discusses Possibility

Law & Order: SVU will not return for quite a while, but there is a little teaser on what to expect from two popular characters.

After the last episode, Peter Scanavino spoke about “Sheltered Outcasts” and the future for his character, Sonny Carisi. The actor also answered questions regarding a possible romance with Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish).

As with many characters on TV, Sonny Carisi and Amanda Rollins didn’t start off on very good terms. However, over the past two seasons, Carisi and Rollins have gotten closer. After the last episode of Law & Order: SVU, fans were wondering if the two might be getting a romance on the NBC police drama. It seems clear that Amanda Rollins might have some feelings for Peter Scanavino’s character. But does Sonny Carisi feel the same way?

“They definitely have a very special friendship that’s developed very organically over the course of these two seasons,” Peter Scanavino told The Hollywood Reporter. “At first, they were very at odds and she was very dismissive of him. He was kind of a pain in her side. And then, it bumped up and he was sort of like an annoying little brother. And now, especially with her having her baby and how Carisi was there for her, I think it’s developed into something of great mutual respect.”

As for a possible romance between Sonny Carisi and Amanda Rollins on Law & Order: SVU, Scanavino wouldn’t give any solid details. However, he did tease that anything could happen.

“It’s still definitely on the friendship level, but who knows? It could stay there. It could develop into something itself,” Scanavino told The Hollywood Reporter regarding a possible romance between Carisi and Rollins. “That’s what’s really interesting about the relationship with Rollins. I think there are a lot of possibilities there, and I think all those possibilities have grown from Kelli and I interacting with each other onscreen. It wasn’t like we were getting steered into a storyline. It’s just growing organically so it can go wherever it wants to go.”

Fans of popular television shows like Law & Order: SVU can get quite passionate when it comes to certain characters striking up a romance. When it comes to Sonny Carisi and Amanda Rollins, it seems that most fans are hoping the characters do get together.

Law & Order: SVU is currently on a break and will not return until May 4. What can fans expect when new episodes air on NBC? As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a Bachelor-themed episode is expected to air in the near future. It will focus on not only the participants of the reality show, Heart’s Desire, but what happens when the cameras are not rolling. Reports hinted that there will be some drama between the producers of the reality show, who happen to be married to each other.

Besides that little tidbit, Carter Matt revealed some casting news for season 17. Brad Garrett from Everybody Loves Raymond will appear on the last two episodes of Law & Order: SVU. The actor will play Gary Munson, a Rikers corrections officer who appears to be one of the good guys. However, it turns out that the character isn’t as nice as people think. Spoilers reveal that Munson has a history of attacking female prisoners.
