Karen Huger Getting Plenty Of Support For Calling Out Ashley Darby On ‘RHOP’

Karen Huger was clearly very upset with her Real Housewives of Potomac co-star Ashley Darby during the final few episodes. Karen didn’t want Darby to hang around her daughter, and she seemed to be blowing her arguments out of proportions. Maybe Darby and Huger are just too different, but that doesn’t necessarily mean one of them is right and one is wrong. However, Huger is getting plenty of support on Twitter for calling out Darby, and it seems people like the fact that she tried to put the younger housewife in her place.

According to a new Bravo report, Karen Huger is now revealing that she’s grateful for the support and admits that she went into the lunch with a mission. And it sounds like fans are actually happy that she stuck to her guns and shared what she didn’t like.

“I appreciated Gizelle putting together the luncheon and I wanted to support that effort. I felt that attending the luncheon so soon after my cocktail party was risk. My emotions were very raw. I was very much still in my mama bear mode concerning Ashley,” Karen Huger revealed on her blog for Sunday’s episode earlier this week.

“Ashley shared with as all, her desire to have her own child; she very much wants to be a mom. I wish that for her as well. I feel that once she holds her own child in her arms she will better understand my boundaries/perspectives concerning parenting and my desire to protect my child,” Karen revealed, adding, “I had not seen nor spoken with Ashley going into the reunion and emotions on both sides were still very high. I walked away from the luncheon feeling we had made progress but there was still work to be done.”

Even though Huger was very vocal in her dislike for Darby’s topics of discussion, it sounds like some of the Real Housewives of Potomac viewers are not happy with the way things have played out on the show. Karen’s comments about Darby needing to procreate did stir up some emotions from viewers, as it sounded like Karen was saying that women aren’t “real women” unless they have children. It is possible that Ashley had tried to have children but couldn’t make it work. And if this is the case, then Karen Huger’s comments do seem very insensitive.

“Explain to me how all those suffering from infertility and can not have children aren’t ‘real’ women?! #BadEtiquette,” one follower wrote to Karen, who denied saying such a thing on The Real Housewives of Potomac. She may not have said it directly, but Karen’s comments could have been misinterpreted that way.

“And, some women choose not to have kids and that’s also ok. Doesn’t make them less of a woman. Choose your words carefully #RHOP,” the follower wrote to Karen, who replied with, “Not MY point. I have a sister who has chosen not to have children. I completely understand and respect that choice.”

One can imagine that Huger will explain what she meant about that comment on Sunday’s reunion show. There’s plenty to discuss on the Real Housewives of Potomac reunion show, and it is possible that Bravo will break it down into several episodes. The show has already been renewed for a second season and all of the ladies are set to come back on the show, so it will be fun to see what happens between Karen and Ashley Darby. Clearly, the two are not on the same wavelength, and they may not become close friends.

What do you think of Karen Huger’s comments? Are you surprised that she’s facing both support and a backlash?
