Michelle Rodriguez Claims Her Statement About Paul Walker Dying First Was Taken ‘Out Of Context’

Michelle Rodriguez has a reputation for being outspoken, sometimes to her detriment.

The Furious 7 actress once again became the subject of controversy over a statement she said in the documentary The Reality of Truth, Mirror reports. Her statement implied that she is jealous her Fast and the Furious costar Paul Walker died before her.

The backlash to her statement has been… well… fast and furious. In response, Michelle pointed out that her words had been taken out of context. The Lost actress added that, had she known that her words were going to be exploited, she wouldn’t have agreed to the project.

“That’s the people from the documentary using things out of context. I had a deep moment and I said something that, you know, was personal,” Michelle said.

“It was exploited and I apologize about that, but if I knew it was being promoted that way I wouldn’t have been involved.”

The actress said that, after Paul died, she spent about a year indulging in her base impulses as a way to distract herself from thoughts of an existential nature.

“I have to say, you know, when I lost Paul, I went through about a year of just being an animal. Like, what could I do, physically, to just get my mind off of existentialism?” Rodriguez mused.

“Get my mind off of how transient life is and how we come here and can just disappear at any moment. How could I get my mind off that?”

It’s no secret to many that Michelle Rodriguez was close friends with Paul before the actor died from wounds sustained in a freak car accident. In an interview with EW, a teary-eyed Rodriguez opened up about her shock at losing such a drear friend, whom she fondly called “the deepest guy I know.”

“I actually went on a bit of a binge,” Michelle admitted, wiping away tears. “I went crazy a little bit” —pause—”I went pretty crazy. A lot of the stuff I did last year I would never do had I been in my right mind.”

Many of those binges found their way into the tabloids. On one occasion, Michelle was photographed by the paparazzi piling on the PDA with model Cara Develingne. She was also spotted partying on a yacht with Justin Bieber. Michelle was also spotted on numerous occasions getting intimate with Zac Efron, most notably in Spain and Sardinia.

“I was pushing myself to feel,” Rodriguez says. “I felt like nothing I could do could make me feel alive, so I just kept pushing myself harder and harder. I was traveling and I was having sex. And I was just trying to ignore everything that I was feeling.”

The Reality of Truth is a documentary that tackles how humans can find spirituality through meditation, prayer, and natural hallucinogens. According to the website, the documentary’s aim is to find “technology in nature” that the government wants to hide from the public. Their goal is to travel to Peru to do ayahuasca, which involves the drinking of a traditional spiritual drink of the same name.

After taking part in the spiritual ceremony in Peru, Michelle said that she felt so much sadness over Paul Walker’s death. Her sadness, however, was not because he is already gone from this mortal coil, but because he went to the other side first.

“And I’ll tell you, that my Ayahuasca trip made me sad that he left me here. It wasn’t a sadness that he’s gone. It was more like a jealousy that he’s there first.”
