Ben Affleck And Matt Damon Could Be Starting A Revolution In Next Reunion

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon might be teaming up on a project that would be unlike anything else the duo have previously worked on. Rumors are flying fast and furiously that Ben Affleck and his long-time friend and partner in many projects are getting set to begin work on a film set around the American Revolution. The actor, whose latest role is that of the iconic Bruce Wayne, might be taking on a slightly different kind of iconic character if the talk moves into the “fact” territory.

Deadline was the first to report Ben Affleck could be signing onto the project alongside Damon. The film, based on the book Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution, has Aaron Stockard already signed on as one of the writers. Stockard has a fairly long history with Ben Affleck himself, as he cowrote The Town and Gone Baby Gone with Affleck. The Bunker Hill book was written by Nathaniel Philbrick, and the rights to the story were purchased by Warner Bros. back in 2013.

It’s not clear whether either Ben Affleck or Matt Damon would star in the film, or simply be doing the work behind the camera and behind the scenes. It does appear the production company run by Ben Affleck and Damon are definitely going to be running the show when it comes time to film, and Affleck is rumored to be the man who will be sitting in the director’s chair. One has to wonder whether Ben Affleck would eventually decide to play one of the main characters the story will introduce to us as the movie unfolds.

Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution centers on the town of Bunker Hill just as the American Revolution is heating up. The battle that took place in and around Boston in 1775 turned out to be among the bloodiest of the war for the British army. The book and the film will depict true events that took place during the battle that saw more than 200 soldiers of the crown lose their lives. AFP Relax reports Matt Damon has indeed said he will appear in front of the camera as well as produce and he will be playing Joseph Warren, a doctor and soldier who went on to become a leader of the revolution.

Ben Affleck could join the production in a number of other central roles which are said to appear in the film including Paul Revere, Thomas Gage, General How, and George Washington. The biggest question when it comes to Ben Affleck is whether or not he is going to have time to take on this project. While his big superhero film has finally hit the big screen, this isn’t a time when Ben Affleck can rest on his laurels. Now, the actor is about to start filming his second movie as Batman in The Justice League: Part One. That flick is due out in November of 2017. It appears Ben Affleck is also writing the script for yet another reboot of the caped crusader, this time likely showing the actor as part of the canon behind that hero. Ben Affleck is expected to direct that film, too. Finally, while dealing with his divorce from Jennifer Garner, he’s working on post production for Live by Night which is scheduled for release in the fall of 2017.

Whether the Batman v Superman star has the time to squeeze in the production of the Bunker Hill film is a question we’re likely not going to be getting the answer to anytime soon. We might see Ben Affleck and Matt Damon team up on this new flick centering around the American Revolution, but the two starring alongside each other seems like a slim chance.
