Carly Rae Jepsen Reveals Album Name, Release Date

Although Carly Rae Jepsen has become a household name with her single “Call Me Maybe” and its various Internet parodies, spoofs, mash-ups, and dance routines, she has yet to release a full album upon the masses. However, it seem this problem is about to be addressed later this year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jepsen will finally unleash her full-length debut, just in time for her tour with Justin Bieber.

Carly Rae Jepsen’s Kiss will hit retail shelves on September 16, courtesy of 604 Records/Schoolboy Records/Interscope Records. The 26-year-old singer wrote most of the songs on the album, though she did enlist a little help from some seasoned professionals. In addition to working with Max Martin and Dallas Austin, Jepsen also joined forces with LMFAO’s Redfoo, Toby Gad, Josh Ramsay, and Matthew Koma.

“These are lyric and song ideas that I have been collecting over the years,” Jepsen said in a statement. “I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to be able to collaborate with some of my dream producers. It has been the most fulfilling experience. The record is pop. It’s inspired by Robyn, The Cars, Madonna and believe it or not, James Taylor. I can’t wait to share it with everyone!”

When THR asked the singer about the album at this year’s Teen Choice Awards, she said, “It surprised me, actually. ‘Call Me Maybe’ is definitely a fair representation of the general sound, but we went a little dancier than I ever intended to go – and I had a lot of fun doing it.”

It would seem the rest of 2012 is going to be just as busy for Jepsen. In addition to the aforementioned album and the Justin Bieber tour, the Canadian singer is set to appear on the season premiere of CW’s 90210. The episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is set to air on October 8.
