‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Teaser Trailer Debuts April 7 [Watch Here]

Ever since Disney bought Lucasfilm back in 2012, Star Wars fans knew they were going to be in for a treat. Disney promised not only to continue the story of the original Star Wars trilogy, but also throw in some additional spin-off movies. Disney’s first spin-off film of the franchise is going to be Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It is scheduled to be released on December 16. The first trailer is set to be released April 7 on Good Morning America.

For now, Disney left us with this little tidbit.

This teaser was randomly released by Disney on April 6. This gives Star Wars fans another day to sit in anguish until the full teaser trailer is released on April 7.

[Warning! Potential Star Wars spoilers ahead!]

Rogue One is not going to be a continuation of Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The plot actually takes place in between Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. There may not even be any Jedi in the film, given the fact that they were “exterminated” at this point in the Star Wars timeline. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda would still technically be in hiding and also the only two Jedi alive.

Neither of those two iconic characters are going to be in the film. The film actually focuses on the beginning stages of the Rebel Alliance and the momentum they slowly gain to take on the Galactic Empire.

The plot consists of a group of rebels who work together to steal the plans to the original Death Star from the Empire. It is not clear whether or not these “rebels” are part of the Rebel Alliance that already exists in the Star Wars universe. The Rebel Alliance may not even exist at this point in the Star Wars timeline.

Judging by the image of the group of so called “rebels” above, they don’t really look like they are a part of anything. If there were any assumptions to be made, they almost look like bounty hunters of some kind.

The teaser Disney left fans with doesn’t give away much, but there are a couple of new visuals. All that is really seen is a new kind of Stormtrooper and the sound of a TIE Fighter in the background.

There has been speculation that Darth Vader and Han Solo could potentially be in the film. Appearances by these two Star Wars regulars would be no surprise. They were both active during the point in time Rogue One takes place.

The appearance of Han Solo could mean a lot more than fans think. If Han Solo is to appear, it will be a younger version of himself. The character is also due for his own spinoff film after Rogue One is finished. The young actor set to play Solo may very well appear in Rogue One.

Darth Vader could be one of the main antagonists in the film. In this point in the Star Wars timeline, Darth Vader ascended to his rise to the top of the Empire. He was at his most brutal because he recently lost his love, Padmé Amidala, and lost a duel to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Gareth Edwards is going to be directing the film. Edwards has a pretty great track record that should give fans a great feeling about this upcoming Star Wars film. Edwards directed blockbusters such as Godzilla. Some of the more notable cast members chosen to star in the film are Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Donnie Yen.

The official trailer being released tomorrow should give fans a better look of what is to come in this upcoming Star Wars anthology film.
