Bethenny Frankel Addresses Her Mysterious Illness, Dating, And Her Daughter Before ‘RHONY’ Season 8 Premiere

Bethenny Frankel was faced with a health scare during filming on The Real Housewives of New York City Season 8.

As she rejoined her co-stars, including Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan, LuAnn de Lesseps, and Carole Radziwill, Bethenny Frankel learned she was suffering from a mysterious illness, and as the new episodes continue, she will share her ordeal with fans.

“I didn’t decide to talk about my health issues on the show. I was on the show and something happened to me, and it just sort of took over,” Bethenny Frankel revealed to E! News on April 5. “When you’re filming, it’s pretty all-intensive and when something hits you, it’s not really something you can avoid. It’s something that physically affected a lot of the season, and I almost couldn’t—well, I actually did. There’s some of the season where I had to bow out and stay in bed.”

Although Bethenny Frankel’s illness kept her from participating in some cast events, she was included in the series as a full-time housewife as she’s been throughout her years on the show.

Bethenny Frankel appeared on The Real Housewives of New York City from Seasons 1 through 3 before leaving the series for a spinoff of her own (Bethenny Getting Married and Bethenny Ever After aired for a total of three seasons). Then, when the show premiered its seventh season, Bethenny Frankel returned to her full-time role.

While Bethenny Frankel didn’t go into details about her illness, she did assure fans that her health scare has not been life-threatening, and said she was glad to have a platform to raise awareness for whatever the illness is.

“I’m going to be OK,” Bethenny Frankel explained. “I’m actually glad that it’s on the show because it’s something that many women can relate to. It’s a couple different things going on with me that are all converged to create a bigger problem, and I think many women will relate. When I had a miscarriage years ago, I didn’t really realize how many women have had miscarriages, so this is probably another female issue that many people are quiet about and it will become a little bit more out there and open.”

Bethenny Frankel revealed that aside from her difficult eighth season, she feels the new installment will be “a really amazing, relateable, real, raw season about just women and what we go through.”

“I’m dating a little bit. It’s happens to be in the first episode that I go on a date,” Bethenny Frankel teased. “I’m flirting a lot bit. I’m a little bit of all show and no go because there’s really not that much action.”

Bethenny Frankel also spoke about her illness during an interview Monday, in which she shut down false reports regarding her having been diagnosed with cancer.

“I don’t have cancer,” Bethenny Frankel explained during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on April 4. “I don’t even like that that word is sort of out there. It’s really important to stay strong for my daughter. If you have a health issue, and you have a child, it makes you think all these different things you would never normally think.”
