‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’: Is Mimi Faust’s New Relationship Real Or For The Cameras?

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta started up Season 5 on Monday, and one of the most shocking moments was when Mimi Faust introduced her new girlfriend. There were rumors that Mimi had a new boo, and some even knew she was messing around with a female. However, that didn’t stop her co-stars’ jaws from dropping when she introduced her new girlfriend to the group.

During the show, Chris Gould revealed that she and Mimi had been dating for about a year. She talked about how she and Mimi kept everything quiet because the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star just wasn’t ready to put her business out there yet. What she meant was that Mimi just wasn’t ready to come out to her friends.

Mimi’s new girlfriend, Chris, isn’t a celebrity at all. Actually, she’s an Atlanta native, and if you were paying close attention, she mentioned that she was from Bankhead. She also works as a paralegal in the city, not a glamorous job in the least. It turns out that a chance encounter at a club appearance for Mimi was all it took for the two to hit it off, leaving some to wonder if Mimi’s new relationship is real or if she’s just putting on another show for the cameras. Fans of LHHATL know she can put on a show after that infamous sex tape with Nikko Smith.

VH1 talked to Chris about her relationship with Mimi and learned quite a bit about her new love interest. The way Chris met her new love isn’t typical, but it does prove that even regular people can rub elbows with celebrities and end up in a relationship with one of them. Now, fans are busy trying to decide if this is true love, or if Mimi is just trying to keep her storyline fresh for another season of LHHATL.

“I met Mimi at a club through a mutual friend who had invited me out because Mimi had a booking,” Gould said of her first meeting with Faust. “I was in her VIP and after the club was over, she pulled me to the side and she was just like, ‘I find you intriguing.’ I was like, ‘Oh, OK.’ They had an after-party at Mimi’s house and at the after-party, we just kept always separating, just me and her, in conversation. It was just us two, and it kinda went from there.”

Speaking of Mimi’s sex tape with Nikko, Chris says she has seen it.

“I don’t watch a lot of TV, period,” Chris said of meeting her girlfriend. “The most that I knew was the obvious things, the sex tape and that she was on Love & Hip Hop. That was the main two things that I knew about her.”

Chris admits that she watched the sex tape only after she started dating Faust because not having seen it was causing an “elephant in the room,” and she wanted to clear the air.

Although Chris admits her initial feelings for Mimi were purely physical and she “just wanted to hit” that, she says the relationship grew as they got to know each other. According to Chris, the relationship really felt real around Halloween of last year, when she went decoration shopping with Faust and her daughter Ava. It was a run in with Nikko later that night that really helped her to realize that her feelings for the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star were real, and their love has been going strong ever since.

As far as appearing on the show, Chris Gould says she was approached about going on camera for Season 5 of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.

“They asked if I wanted to do the show and I was like, ‘Yeah and tell the whole world that’s my woman,'” Gould said. “That’s the gist of it. I was down for it because I don’t think anybody’s ever seen somebody like me on TV.”

Even after the show and the big reveal, Mimi Faust and Chris Gould have not appeared in each other’s social media at all.
