Michael Douglas And Catherine Zeta-Jones Rekindle Their Romance In The Place Where It All Began

Michael Douglas is responsible for some of the most memorable lines in movie history, and the characters he has portrayed have had an everlasting effect on his fans. Recently, People reported that Ted Cruz borrowed a line from a fictional character portrayed by Michael Douglas in the movie The American President to give a fitting answer to an allegation made by Donald Trump, also in the Presidential race.

Ted Cruz jumped to the defense of his wife Heidi after Donald Trump made some remarks about her, and as admirable as his words were, they also seemed a little too familiar for some Michael Douglas fans. It was during an interview with CNN that Ted Cruz spoke the words that sounded strangely familiar to those who have seen Michael Douglas’ The American President.

“If Donald wants to get in a character fight, he’s better off sticking with me because Heidi is way out of his league.”

Michael Douglas has had problems in his marriage, he has battled cancer, and he now plans to enjoy the brighter side of life after declaring that he is cancer free. ABC News reported that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas recently returned to a special place on the top of a mountain in the city of Aspen.

Aspen, a romantic getaway in Colorado, was the perfect setting for Michael to propose to Catherine on New Year’s Eve in 1999, and the couple cherished their sweet memories by returning to the romantic spot that marked the beginning of their marriage. The couple had a good time strengthening their bond and they also posted their vacation photos on social media. It was a great way to relive their romantic moments after the couple reunited following their brief split-up in 2013.

“16 years ago, this was the spot where my husband proposed.”

“Just loving these conditions and my Pucci ski pants!!!”

The couple has certainly gone through their share of pain and suffering during their marriage, including weathering major medical setbacks in recent years when Michael Douglas was diagnosed with stage-four tongue cancer in 2010 after being misdiagnosed three times. Additionally, Catherine has undergone therapy and treatment for bipolar disorder. To add to their problems, a prison sentence for Michael’s 37-old son from his first marriage strained their relations further. Eventually, Michael fought and successfully won over cancer. However, their health issues and personal differences had left their marriage in a mess and they decided on a brief separation to relieve themselves of the stress that compounded over for many years.

In an interview with Yahoo TV, Michael Douglas confessed about being neglectful.

“When you’re busy all the time, you don’t think about a whole lot of things other than the realities that are in front of you.”

But in spite of having a 25-year age difference, Michael and Catherine managed to have a steady and functioning relationship because of their mutual respect for each other. Catherine had always respected Michael for his conviction for life and the way he fought to make wrong things right. It is this conviction, mutual respect, and love towards each other that enabled the couple to withstand the storms in their life.

And Michael Douglas has emerged strongly with a renewed appreciation of life. Even rumors about his health won’t deter his spirit. In fact, he is looking forward to the “third act” of his career and hopes to work on further film projects. Recently, International Business Times reported on a rumor that Michael was on the verge of preparing his will and selling his assets because his tongue cancer was back and it was in a terminal state. However, this rumor appears to be nothing more than just that.

Michael Douglas has achieved a huge deal in his life and career, but he’s not finished yet.
