Melania Trump Speaks In Support Of Husband: He Is A ‘Great Communicator’ Who Will ‘Treat Everyone Equally’

Melania Trump joined her husband Donald Trump onstage to vouch for his “kind” nature and passion to “fight for his country” on Monday night at the latest stop for the Republican candidate. Melania Trump spoke in support of her husband on the campaign trail in a suspected bid to appeal to female voters in the wake of a particularly damaging week for Trump’s reputation among women. Melania said her husband is a “great communicator” who will “treat everyone equally” if elected.

Trump’s campaign team is believed to have staged Melania’s speech on the campaign trail in an attempt to win back the votes of a demographic widely deterred by his outspoken attitudes towards women. Among other things, Melania said her husband is “kind,” has “a great heart,” is “a great communicator,” and “a great negotiator.”

CNN reports that Melania spoke in support of her husband moments before he took to the podium to make his case to Wisconsin voters, marking a rare speaking role for Trump’s ex-model wife on the campaign trail. Clocking in at just under one minute, the glowing account of Donald Trump’s nature was her longest speech of the campaign yet.

“As you may know by now, when you attack him he will punch back ten times harder,” said Mrs Trump. “No matter who you are, a man or a woman, he treats everyone equal. He’s a fighter, and if you elect him to be your president, he will fight for you and for our country.”

According to the results of a CNN/ORC poll, which revealed that Donald Trump appeals to only 24 percent of female voters, team Trump will have to do a lot more than having Melania speak in support of her husband on the campaign trail. CNN explained some of the factors contributing to Trump falling out of favor with women voters.

“Trump said in an MSNBC town hall that women should face ‘some form of punishment’ for getting an abortion should the procedure be outlawed – a statement that united anti-abortion activists and abortion rights supporters in condemnation. Trump reversed that statement hours later in a statement, referring to women who get abortions as victims.”

Trump’s further flip-flop on the topic of abortion only days later fueled the flames of anger among women’s rights activists, compounding their belief that the beauty pageant magnate, former reality television personality, and billionaire businessman was unreliable and would set women’s rights back several decades if elected. Reporter and public figure Megyn Kelly has clashed with Trump on such issues, to which Trump has responded with negative comments.

The Inquisitr has previously reported on Donald Trump coming under fire for a range of comments considered highly offensive to women, which have been the subject of campaign advertisements from Trump’s opposing candidates.

The fact that team Trump had Melania speak in support of her husband suggests a calculated bid to appeal to female voters: having both Melania and a former Wisconsin beauty queen, Melissa Young, speak in his support, may suggest a desperate one. Young, who is terminally ill, opened by saying Trump is “the greatest man she’d ever met,” and praises to his credit flowed from there.

“If [Trump] becomes president of the United States of America he is going to give me the best gift ever… I’ll know that he is going to grow up in a country that is safe. That’s what every mother wishes for,” she said of Trump.

Whether or not the strategy of having Melania Trump speak in her husband’s support on the campaign trail was successful in winning back female voters will be revealed in the Wisconsin primary results on Tuesday evening.
