Kanye West ‘Going Broke’ Trying To Keep Up With Kardashian’s Lifestyle?

Ever since Kanye West declared back in February that he’s $53 million in debt, ‘Ye’s money has been a frequent topic of conversation.

His bizarre Twitter declaration had many asking: Is Kanye West broke? And if it’s true, how could it be? After all, West is one of the most prolific and successful rappers of all time, and he’s the designer behind his wildly popular Yeezy clothing line.

Could Kanye West really be broke?

If you believe a recent report from Hollywood Life, the answer is yes, absolutely, and it’s all because he’s working at keeping up with the Kardashians. Or, one Kardashian, specifically — his wife, Kim.

The unnamed source for Hollywood Life alleges that the 38-year-old Life of Pablo artist is “going broke” and “hemorrhaging money” while he struggles to keep up with the luxurious demands of Kim Kardashian. In fact, the source said that Kanye doesn’t believe he can support Kim Kardashian’s lifestyle forever.

“Kanye’s been living the good life for way too long and the true is, he’s scared it won’t last. He doesn’t believe his lifestyle, the trips, clothes, houses, cars, jewelry and all the wealth he’s accumulated will last.”

The Hollywood Life source went on to say that, once upon a time, Kanye was content to live a more subtle lifestyle. That was before he hooked up with Kim, her KUWTK family, and the public persona that comes along with being part of the Kardashian-Jenner clan.

“Kanye only began to be flashy and ostentatious when he met Kim. He could deal with keeping up with the Jones,” the source told Hollywood Life. “But keeping up with the Kardashians and constantly being image conscience, that’s a whole new ballgame.”

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are known for spending large amounts of money, especially when it comes to remodeling homes. For a period of time, Kim and Kanye lived with Kim Kardashian’s famous momager, Kris Jenner, as their Hidden Hills home was updated and, reportedly, outfitted with a backyard lake-oasis and a rumored $100,000 playhouse for Kim and Kanye’s daughter, North West. (Subsequent reports have indicated that the playhouse rumors may not be true.)

That’s not the only home they own, though. The couple, who were married in 2014, recently moved back into their Bel-Air mansion after it underwent three years of renovations. Kim and Kanye purchased the mansion in 2013 for $11 million, but eventually purchased the second Hidden Hills home for $20 million after the birth of their daughter. Previously, it was rumored that Kardashian and West were planning to sell their Bel-Air mansion.

Both homes have undergone extensive renovations, and it is believed that West and Kardashian will eventually move into the Hidden Hills home once the updates are complete.

That’s a lot of work and a lot of money, and the source for Hollywood Life notes that the lifestyle Kanye and Kim are living has taken a toll on West.

“Part of him does believe he will be broke because of the luxurious and cavalier lifestyle he and Kim live. Either that, or he will be working from the grave to keep her and their image alive.”
