Gwen Stefani Opens Up On ‘Good Morning America,’ Reveals She Was ‘Trying Not To Die’ Amid Divorce

Gwen Stefani was dealt a pretty rough hand recently. Her marriage to Gavin Rossdale fell apart after a cheating scandal was revealed. Stefani learned her husband was having an affair with the nanny, and that was the end of their relationship. The couple had been married for 13 years and have three children together.

Stefani was incredibly shocked by the events and went to a very dark place amid the divorce proceedings. The surprise of her world crashing down around her was enough to interfere with her will to live. Thankfully, Stefani pulled out of that dark place with a little help from a friend.

During the darkest point in her life, Gwen Stefani began filming The Voice again. While it was not intentional, she found a confidant in Blake Shelton. The two were an incredibly odd pairing, and no one believed anything romantic would come of their budding friendship.

According to Hollywood Life, Gwen Stefani was “trying not to die” amid her divorce from Gavin Rossdale. She gave an interview on Good Morning America this morning and explained how she was trying to survive each day and didn’t care about the music she was supposed to be making. Stefani was thrown in the studio shortly after the cheating scandal was revealed. Those were some of the hardest days of her life, but she was able to pull through.

Both Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have caught a lot of criticism for their relationship. They have been accused of being the reason their marriages fell apart, although they have denied those allegations. Shelton and his ex-wife, Miranda Lambert, did their divorce quietly and quickly. It wasn’t even made public until the day it was being finalized. Stefani and Gavin Rossdale were a different story. Their divorce was messier, and it wasn’t over as quickly as she had hoped. When the new romance between the Voice co-stars was announced, there was some worry about how the public would perceive them. With two broken marriages and divorces, Stefani wasn’t sure where she was headed with her new boyfriend.

After being in the studio and working on her new album, Gwen Stefani found inspiration in Blake Shelton. According to Entertainment Tonight, Gwen Stefani wrote “Make Me Like You” in just under 15 minutes. She had been feeling that way for quite some time, and the words just poured out of her. The song was definitely written about her boyfriend. Stefani performed the tune this morning on Good Morning America, and it has the feel of some of her older stuff, circa the No Doubt era. Fans were gushing along with the song, especially knowing the meaning behind it.

Stefani’s new album is entirely based on emotions and situations she has dealt with over the last several months. From the divorce from Gavin Rossdale to the whirlwind romance with Shelton, Stefani was able to mix it up quite well.

While the relationship between Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton may not appeal to some, they are happy with one another despite all of the negativity they have received. She was able to pull out of the very dark place she was in, and he had a purpose once again. The Voice was initially supposed to be “just a job,” but it turned into so much more for both of them.

Since Stefani and Shelton each have new albums, it was inevitable that they would have songs for the other on their album. Last night, country fans heard his song for her and this morning, Stefani sang her song for him. Rumors of a wedding have been circulating for quite some time, with pregnancy rumors piled high. As of now, Gwen Stefani is happy with the current situation and doesn’t wish to rush things between her and Blake Shelton.
