Randy Travis Arrested For DWI After Car Crash

UPDATE – Randy Travis was naked when Texas police officers arrived at the scene after the country music legend wrecked his 1998 Pontiac Trans Am, according to Grayson County Sheriff’s Office statements republished on TMZ. Randy Travis also allegedly threatened to “shoot and kill” the police officers.

Randy Travis was charged with a DWI after a single-car crash in Texas last night. Just prior to midnight, Texas law enforcement officers arrested country music singer Randy Travis on both DWI and a retaliation and obstruction charge, which is a felony. Travis escaped the Texas crash with just minor cuts, according to TMZ.

The DWI arrest is the second for Randy Travis this year. In February, the country music star was arrested for public intoxication in front of a Baptist church in Sanger, Texas after getting into an argument with his girlfriend. Police were called to the scene after a resident phoned in a report of a suspicious vehicle near the house of worship. Upon arrival, Sanger law enforcement officers discovered Randy Travis with an open bottle of wine.

After his first 2012 arrest, the Forever and Ever Amen singer apologized to his fans and noted he got carried away after celebrating the Super Bowl. Travis also told his country music supporters that he is committed to behaving in an accountable and responsible manner, Fox News notes.

Travis has won six Grammy awards and began focusing on Gospel music over the course of the past five years. The singers most recent music release is Three Wooden Crosses, a Gospel anthem album.

Randy Travis, 52, remains incarcerated at the Grayson County Jail on DWI and retaliation and obstruction charges. Before the single-car crash, Travis had been on an extended break in preparation for upcoming music shows. Travis is scheduled to hit the road for concerts slated to begin on August 17 and run through the end of the year.
