Blake Shelton Sings About Gwen Stefani In Front Of Miranda Lambert At The Country Music Awards 2016

Blake Shelton opened the 2016 Country Music Awards and it was awkward, mainly because he chose to sing a song about his new girlfriend Gwen Stefani in front of his ex-wife, Miranda Lambert.

The Huffington Post reports that the Voice coach sang his new song “Came Here To Forget” which is allegedly about Gwen Stefani.

Here are some of the lyrics so you can judge for yourself.

“Girl getting over him and I’m getting over her/ The eyes have it made, ain’t gotta say a word/ Misery loves company, that’s why it’s you and me.”

Though he hasn’t confirmed that his new music is about Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton hasn’t denied it either. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Shelton said that it “doesn’t take a rocket scientist” to predict that the majority of the album will be about Stefani.

“If you have followed my career even a little bit in my life, you know what has happened with me in the last, gosh, eight or nine months,” Shelton said, a direct reference to his divorce from Miranda Lambert.

Blake Shelton has admitted that he channels the emotions and challenges from his life into his music.

“I can put my life experience, whether it’s a divorce or my new girlfriend, whatever those experiences are, whatever things that are happening in my life, I have an outlet for them,” Shelton said. “I have music. I can write songs, I can sing about it.”

As Entertainment Tonight reports, Gwen Stefani recently confirmed that her latest single, “Make Me Like You,” is all about her relationship with Blake.

According to Us Weekly, Miranda Lambert had some arm candy of her own. Her boyfriend Anderson East was with her. Lambert also looked great, wearing a soft yellow gown with a thigh-high slit and flirty pink stilettos. Her shoes also featured a tiny pink revolver in a holster.

Blake singing about Gwen Stefani in front of Miranda Lambert wasn’t the only controversial thing he did at the Country Music Awards 2016. As The Tennessean notes, this is the first time in three years that the country singer hasn’t hosted the show. So, in typical Blake fashion, he jokingly tried to steal the mic from one of the hosts, Dierks Bentley.

During the opening of the show, co-host Luke Bryan performed his song, “Hunting, Fishing, and Loving Every Day.” As Bryan introduced Bentley, the camera cut to backstage to show Blake Shelton sneaking up behind him to steal the microphone. Blake grabbed the mic and triumphantly went on stage to sing the rest of the song.

“Good luck tonight, boys,” Shelton said. “He’s all yours now,” he told Bentley. “You’re a dumb**s.” Blake said as he turned towards Luke Bryan.

“Let’s hear it one more time for the Blake Shelton farewell tour!” Bryan said after when Blake got off the stage.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been very cute together since they went public with their relationship.

Us Weekly reports that Shelton recently tweeted his approval of Stefani wearing a pair of space shorts that she wore in an appearance on Saturday Night Live.

“Hey @gwenstefani… Please wear space pants when you get back home!!! Ha!!!!” Shelton tweeted.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert announced their divorce in a statement made to Us Weekly on July 20. “This is not the future we envisioned,” the country singers said to Us at the time. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately.” The two country singers were married for four years and the announcement of their divorce shocked the country music world.
