‘The Sims 4 Pets’ On The Horizon? An Announcement Is Imminent, But Which Pack Will It Be?

The last day of March has come and gone, but The Sims 4 fans are still waiting for an announcement about their favorite game. Since its launch in 2014, The Sims 4 has received two expansion packs. The Sims 4 has also received six item filled stuff packs and two content-adding game packs. With the first three months of 2016 featuring the release of only two stuff packs, fans are eager for news of the next expansion pack or game pack.

The wait may be nearing an end. Popular fan site SimsVIP reports that a new official survey is circulating. The survey asks players to weigh in on potential expansion packs. The main expansion pack on the docket? The Sims 4: Pets.

Among the hypothetical features in store for The Sims 4: Pets are the ability to adopt and create pets. Players will also be able to build relationships with their pets to turn them into loyal companions. Pets in the world of The Sims 4 will have varied personalities. Pets will be controllable, and have skills and careers of their own.

If you have a sense of deja vu over the expansion pack survey, there is a good reason. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, a similar survey surfaced in October 2014. The survey detailed several potential expansion packs including one targeted at active careers. Five months later, Maxis released The Sims 4: Get to Work.

Details about the first expansion pack emerged months before its release.

A similar survey emerged in August 2015. According to Sims Community, the survey listed several potential expansion packs. The Sims 4: On the Road would have added vehicles, garages, and a mechanic career. The Sims 4: University would have added crazy college days to a sim’s lifespan. The similarly themed The Sims 4: Back to School would have added gameplay functions to the child and teen life stages. The Sims 4: Generations would add the long awaited toddler life stage. The Sims 4: Find Love would add a dating app and romantic getaways. The Sims 4: Vacation would have added many vacation worlds for sims as well as ancient ruin locations to explore. Some of the expansion pack ideas were zanier. The Sims 4: Get Real would have given sims the chance to become reality stars.

Some functions of the hypothetical expansion packs may have already appeared in The Sims 4 games. The Sims 4: University’s sororities and fraternities sound like The Sims 4: Get Together’s clubs.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, a thread devoted to the toddler life stage was stickied at the official The Sims forum. That suggests that Maxis plans to add them in the future.

Not to worry, Maxis is likely to announce the next expansion soon.

Whether the next expansion pack will be The Sims 4: Pets is anyone’s guess. But one thing is for sure. The next content drop announcement from Maxis and EA Games is imminent.

According to Sims Community, voice actress Taylor Parks recently revealed that she did work on the next batch of content for The Sims 4. In December 2014, Parks famously mentioned recording sessions with EA games. In the process, Parks reveals details about The Sims 4: Get to Work.

Taylor Parks didn’t drop any juicy tidbits this time, but the post may finally give eager fans an idea of when they’ll be able to play the next expansion pack. If the timeline stays the same, The Sims 4‘s next expansion pack will be released sometime in July 2016.

The timeline makes sense, considering that EA’s fiscal year ended March 31. With a new year ahead, EA will have more financial resources to promote The Sims 4 content. A July release date would also give EA The Sims 4 content to showcase at E3. Whether the July release date materializes or not, expect an announcement on future The Sims 4 content any day now.
