Nicholas Hoult Denies Kristen Stewart Dating Rumors, Says There’s ‘Always Going To Be Speculation’

Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart may play dystopian lovers in their upcoming romantic science-fiction film, Equals, but that doesn’t mean that Hoult and Stewart are actually dating in real life.

Romance rumors for Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart have been making headlines since the duo were photographed filming for Equals back in September 2014. However, it appears that Hoult is now aiming to silence the dating speculation between himself and Kristen after opening up about some of the film’s more intimate scenes in an interview with People earlier this week.

When asked if his and Stewart’s onscreen chemistry has ultimately developed into a real-life romance, Nicholas was quick to address the ongoing speculation while noting that there is “always going to be speculation” when it comes to taking on romantic films.

“Of course there’s always going to be speculation. But there’s also like a whole business behind people kind of fueling those fires and creating speculation,” Hoult reveals while addressing the number of dating-related rumors that have plagued his upcoming film with Kristen. “There’s kind of a whole industry behind that at play that has nothing to do with the actual people.”

According to Gossip Cop, Hoult ultimately went on to confirm that the rumors suggesting that he and Kristen Stewart are currently engaging in an off-screen relationship are “speculation about nothing” before noting that it’s likely that the relationship rumors will resurface around the time of the film’s limited U.S. release in July.

The news comes just months after Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult opened up about how their real-life relationships have helped to inspire their performance in Equals during an interview with The Daily Beast last year.

When asked how they were able to get into character for the sci-fi drama, which features Stewart and Hoult as a couple attempting to escape a dystopian society in which emotions have been eradicated, Nicholas admits that it was “nice” to be able to escape the reality of their lives while filming on location in Singapore.

“It was nice to feel so isolated from everything, from our lives. It’s often the way we are on location, but particularly in this movie it was very intimate, and a nice environment to be in,” Hoult explained of the remote filming process while Stewart added, “It was incredibly painful. It was a really good time for both of us to make this movie. We all felt akin by how much we’ve been through, and to utilize that is so scary.”

Prior to filming Equals, both Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart found themselves at the center of constant media attention stemming from their recent breakups — with Hoult having called it quits from longtime girlfriend and X-Men: First Class costar Jennifer Lawrence in 2014 and Kristen Stewart having split from Twilight costar Robert Pattinson just one year prior.

While Hoult may have shot down rumors insinuating a romantic relationship between himself and costar Kristen Stewart, the Clouds of Sils Maria actress is currently linked to singer-songwriter Stephanie “Soko” Sokolinski, who gushed about Stewart during an interview with W Magazine earlier this month.

“I’m very, very, very in love and very happy in a relationship,” Soko explained when asked if she would direct message someone on social media in order to ask for a date, “So I don’t have that urge.”
