Jimmy Fallon, Taylor Lautner Compete In ‘Random Object Shootout’ On ‘Tonight Show’

Jimmy Fallon and Taylor Lautner apparently had a lot of fun shooting random objects at a basketball hoop Friday night.

The Tonight Show host and the Cuckoo actor went head-to-head in the popular late night talk show segment simply titled, “Random Object Shootout” in honor of NCAA March Madness.

The objective of the game was fairly simple. Jimmy and Taylor took turns shooting objects into the basketball hoop. At the end of the game, the person with the highest score won the game. Even though it may sound easy, the level of difficulty essentially skyrocketed after the specific objects being thrown were revealed.

Instead of using a standard basketball (or any ball-like object), the list of random objects included:

  • a bowl filled with miniature basketball balls
  • a ukulele filled with Fruity Pebbles cereal
  • a rain boot filled with rain
  • a Lincoln log cabin
  • a werewolf doll on a burrito
  • an old-fashioned boombox (which was worth two points)

Since he was the Tonight Show guest, Taylor Lautner went first. For some reason, he took off his suit coat — a move that apparently did not go unnoticed by his fans in the audience.

However, when it came to time to shooting the bowl of miniature basketballs into the hoop, he failed miserably — a failure that Jimmy Fallon used to capitalize on his impressive comic timing.

“Maybe I’ll leave my jacket on.”

Moments later, Jimmy Fallon was actually able to score with the bowl of basketball balls, earning the first point of the game.

Jimmy scored yet again after Taylor Lautner missed when he shot the ukulele filled with cereal — a shot that even surprised Jimmy Fallon himself after he made it. Taylor did manage to score his first point when it came to shooting the rain boot filled with rain — a feat that Jimmy was not able to duplicate during his turn.

At this point, the score was 2-1 with Jimmy Fallon still in the lead.

Taylor Lautner tied the game when he managed to shoot the Lincoln Log house directly into the hoop. Neither Jimmy, nor Taylor, could sink a shot with the werewolf doll sitting on top of the burrito. That is when the game came down to one final shot for both of them — the old-fashioned boombox.

Using an old-fashioned Granny shot, Taylor scored his final two points by sinking the old-fashioned boombox on the first try — a shot that made him the winner of the Random Object Shootout since Jimmy could not follow in his footsteps.

Playing the “Random Object Shootout” was apparently not the only highlight of Taylor Lautner’s recent appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. During their interview, Jimmy asked Taylor about what he did during the downtime on his set of the popular BBC series Cuckoo. That was when things got a little awkward.

Taylor explained a game that he plays with one of his Cuckoo co-stars called the “Milky Cow Game.”

The objective is to take a deep breath, face your opponent with direct eye contact and get ready for an exercise in will power and endurance. While essentially repeating the “l” sound in the word “milk” over and over again, you have to stare at your opponent without cracking or breaking character. The game apparently takes an intense amount of focus and discipline — something that Jimmy Fallon admittedly doesn’t have in situations like that (which makes it even funnier when he finally cracks).

After rousing the crowd mid-game, Taylor Lautner distracted Jimmy Fallon by touching his nose — causing Jimmy to break character and lose the game.
