For the rest of you Supernatural fans out there that need to get caught up to where the show is at, and for details about that climatic cliffhanger, let’s just take a moment to discuss “Red Meat” before we talk anymore about the next episode.

First of all, fans already know that werewolves on Supernatural are a fairly common occurrence. As a matter of fact, they are common enough to be classified as a “case of the week.” Even more to that point, the classic monsters of vampires, ghosts, demons, warlocks, witches, goblins, ghouls, swamp creatures, and even genies in the bottle would also share that classification on Supernatural as well.

So, according to Entertainment Weekly, the last episode of Supernatural was supposed to be just that, a “case of the week.” It was about werewolves that were traveling in a pack and have kidnapped a couple of people (people whom Supernatural fans now want to see mauled by lions).

But as it turns out, this episode of Supernatural was a little more than that. It was indeed a C.O.W. in the sense that they were dealing with their run of the mill werewolves, but it had a strange twist that put things in a new perspective. Now that fans of Supernatural know that Sam and Dean Winchester can die, they worry excessively over it.

So when Sam gets shot in the stomach by one of them, things go from bad to worse real quick. The show actually had several time jumps that made for some quite dramatic scenes where fans were left breathless, alluding to the fact the Sam was going to die in the very beginning of the episode.

Here’s the thing though, Sam is a tough son of a gun and when it comes to staying alive, he is definitely a survivor. But Dean still would never allow his brother to die, no matter what the cost or what he has to do to get it. When the Winchesters are on the run with the hipster honeymoon campers, Sam starts to lose it and he goes under. They have to stop and the hipster man realizes quickly that Dean will never leave his brother.

So what does the hipster do? Well, he of course goes inside while Dean is distracted and essentially suffocates Sam, assumingly to death. When Dean returns, the tears started flowing and fans see the sentimental side of the war-torn man.

Fast forward to Dean trying to get the two hipsters out and getting tased by a sheriff. So instead of being able to go back and help Sam, he wakes in the hospital and realizes that he has to have a rendezvous with Billie, which means he has to die.

So when Dean lines up his pills for departure, Supernatural cuts to Sam waking up, but it may be too late!

So now, Episode 18 of Supernatural is about to give some fans a little relief, but maybe not enough. According to TV Guide, the episode is mostly about Lucifer making his way home to Heaven. But there is that other part of the story where Crowley makes an appearance with both Sam and Dean. So suffice it to say, they will likely live to see another day, at least for now – until Amara is found.
