The Ultimate Guide To ‘Alien Day’ Activities On April 26

On March 29, 2016, Twentieth Century Fox studios announced they will celebrate the Alien franchise in a major way on April 26, 2016. Fox will be holding a special 24-hour social media and screening event for the Alien film anthology calling it Alien Day. In the Tech Times, Jeffrey Godsick, President of Fox consumer products, talks about why Alien day was finally created.

“The ALIEN franchise holds a special place not only within the universe of Fox but with movie enthusiasts across the galaxy. We noticed that fans of the ALIEN films were starting to rally around the calendar date of April 26th — given the connection to the planet LV-426. Quite simply, it gave us the idea to do something special on this day; to officially mark the occasion alongside fans and to build excitement online, in stores and once again, in theaters.”

According to IMDB, in the first Alien film, the crew of the Nostromo spaceship receives a distress call from the LV-426 sector. When they arrive on LV-426, the crew, lead by Captain Dallas (Tom Skerritt) and Lt. Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), discover an alien ship. The crew finds that the ship contains a dangerous cargo, so Ripley and the crew will have to fight for their lives if they want to survive the journey.

The first Alien film officially spawned three more films, and Alien Day celebrates all four films. The Alien film anthology stars Sigourney Weaver (Ellen Ripley) and is directed by Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fincher, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

The date of 4/26 holds importance for Alien Day because the fourth month of the year and the 26th day equals LV-426. The hashtag #AlienDay426 will encompass a wide range of activities ranging from nationwide screenings of Alien and its sequel Aliens. Also, limited edition consumer products will go on sale, and the Alien: Ultimate Trivia Contest begins. This contest will test fans’ Alien knowledge and give away special prizes.

The Rebook Alien Stomper

Polygon reports that Fox has teamed up with an impressive number of licensing partners that produce apparel, comics, and collectible items. One of the most anticipated items up for sale is the limited edition Reebok Alien Stomper. The Stomper is the sneakers worn by Ellen Ripley in the iconic sequel Aliens. In a particular scene, Ripley is seen wearing the Alien Stomper as she battles the Alien Queen. The sneakers will be available starting on Alien Day at Reebok stores and Reebok online.
