Nick Jonas Talks About His Relationship With Miley Cyrus

While Nick Jonas is in the spotlight, he’s opening up about a number of subjects, but mainly Miley Cyrus, and those purity rings that he and his brothers wore all those years ago.

During a Reddit AMA, Jonas opened up about his relationship with Miley Cyrus. The two dated when they were barely legal in 2006. The pair dated for a year, but there still seems to be a fascination about the Disney kids hooking up.

Jonas didn’t have any dirt to say about Cyrus, who’s rumored to have reunited with her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth. That said, Nick did mention that the two aren’t particularly close, which is standard for teen romances.

“It’s been a while since I spoke to Miley, but I think that the persona is awesome and I think that she is living proof that you can continue to evolve as an artist and a creator.”

He continued, “I’m a huge Woody Allen fan, so I’m looking forward to seeing the show that she’s doing with him.”

It was reported in January that Cyrus and Allen are teaming up for a TV series for Amazon. As reported by Deadline Hollywood, the show will be ” a six half-hour-episode series” and will take place in the 1960s.

This isn’t the first time Jonas spoke about his past romance with Cyrus. Back in April of 2015, there were hints that Nick regretted their strained relationship.

“I was so young. What’s unfortunate is that, as we got older, we ran in different circles. We’ve always had respect and wished the best for each other. I don’t know that I have any regrets. It’s more gratitude for having had a good friend in a time of craziness in my life and in hers.”

Jonas also touched on his purity rings. The topic came up as he discussed what it was like to reminisce about making music and touring with his brothers. Nick explained that there were moments that were painful, even though he had the time of his life making music with her brothers. Jonas points to a South Park episode that mocked the Jonas Brothers for wearing purity rings, as an example.

“When it first came out I didn’t think it was funny to be honest, but probably because I was actually living all of that in real time, so it just made it harder to come and live your life as a young person and have all that going on.”

Now that he’s over and done with the purity ring, Jonas said that he revisited the episode and found it funny.

Back in 2014, Jonas revealed for the first time that he no longer wears his purity ring, which made sense given Jonas’ age and sexy new image for his solo career.

At the time he said the decision to ditch the purity ring was a growth for him, but despite that, he does have his values. He also spoke about his journey with faith and religion, and said that his belief in God was still very strong, even though he no longer wore the ring that he and his brothers donned for years.

He also spoke about shooting his new music video for the song “Close” with Tove Lo. The video made fans raise eyebrows due to its NSFW nature.

“Shooting the video itself was amazing. I knew that she would be famous when it came to the visuals for this video, which made the whole thing feel a lot better, because we do basically strip down to our underwear and roll around on the ground together.”
