Han Solo Casting Rumors Grow Hot, ‘Force Awakens’ Jacket Goes On Sale

Star Wars veteran character Han Solo is getting his own movie, and many young actors are vying for the role. Disney’s Han Solo casting rumors got even hotter with Harrison Ford’s jacket from Star Wars: The Force Awakens going on sale for auction.

“The leather jacket Harrison Ford’s Han Solo wore in the blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit the auction block, with all proceeds from the unique item benefitting charity,” reports Rolling Stone. “The jacket, which is currently being auctioned off by If Only, also comes autographed by Ford. The current bid on the piece of Force Awakens memorabilia is $17,000. The auction is set to conclude on April 11th.”

The Force Awakens jacket will spark the imagination of fans all over the world and many will be glad to take their stab at obtaining it when the jacket goes on sale.

The same people who are excited to obtain this Han Solo jacket will also be excited to learn that the studios are closer than ever in determining the lucky actor that will get to play the young Han Solo in a Star Wars spin-off.

“Early on many insiders were touting that Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort and Dave Franco were in the running to play the young version of the interstellar gunslinger made famous by Harrison Ford,” reports Daily Mail. “However, a new report claims the list has narrowed down to a handful of very lucky and lesser known young actors.”

“The Hollywood Reporter claims Disney has shortlisted Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Emory Cohen (Brooklyn),” stated the same article.

Any edge that Taron Egerton, Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor, or Emory Cohen can get to get ahead in casting will be of great use. So it was a big blessing when the star of The Force Awakens John Boyega endorsed his good friend, Taron Egerton, for the role of Han Solo.

When asked about what kind of qualities that young Han Solo should have, John Boyega answered, according to the Malay Mail, “I think fundamentally it’s that charm … So there’s a chance for him to be a different person and to still have the same charm we all know but a new take at the character.”

To end this interview, he gave the biggest shout out to his friend.

Taron, go get it, go get it, Taron. Go get it,” Boyega said.

Of course, this support thrilled Taron so much that he had to respond, to make sure that he stays on top of the Han Solo casting race.

“I’ve heard this rumor, yes. I mean I’ve seen the stuff on the Internet, and I think any lad of my age would kill to play a part like that,” Taron said, according to Just Jared. “It’s very, very flattering. I’ve no idea if there’s any truth in it but I mean, Lucasfilm, Disney, if there is then you know where I am.”

As for other actors that fell out of Han Solo casting race, they are pursuing other roles to add to their resume. Miles Teller is busy promoting his upcoming film, War Dogs, with Jonah Hill, Dave Franco is preparing to wed his girlfriend, Alison Brie, and Ansel Elgort is basking in the joys of having just released Allegiant.

No matter who the new Han Solo will be, the world still is eager to find out if Harrison Ford will appear in the upcoming Star Wars films. But the actor seemed very tight lipped about it.

“[When] asked if he—or Han Solo—will be in any of the upcoming Star Wars movies, Ford mysteriously locked his lips and threw away the key,” according to the Daily Beast. “As for the secret regarding Han Solo’s death at the end of The Force Awakens, Ford said fans only avoided spoiling it for others because they knew he would personally show up at their houses and ‘beat the s**t out of them.’ ”

At least he is willing to share the Han Solo jacket with the rest of the world!
