Gwen Stefani Admits There Was An ‘Angry Period’ After Split From Gavin Rossdale

Gwen Stefani has been open about her split from rocker Gavin Rossdale. Amid allegations that Rossdale cheated with the nanny, Stefani has talked about her pain following her split to Vanity Fair.

Although Stefani has moved on with country singer and Voice mentor Blake Shelton, Stefani is opening up about the angry period she went through following the demise of her 14-year marriage to the Bush frontman.

During that time, she completely reworked her album and put all of her efforts into her music, singing about her heartbreak, which can be heard in the song “Used to Love You.” Speaking about the song, Stefani explained that it’s not all about bad vibes. The singer said of that time when she recorded the song.

“I went through a real period of anger, but I felt like this song was almost like a forgiveness song. It’s admitting, I used to love you and now I don’t. I opened this channel to writing again—it was me being honest, being real.”

Although Gwen Stefani has never confirmed that Rossdale was cheating on her with nanny Mindy Mann, earlier in the month, Stefani revealed that the real reason for her divorce is “juicy” but only dangled the gossip rather than elaborating on it.

During a New York Times interview, Stefani said, “If I could, I would just tell you everything, and you would just be in shock.”

Another revelation within the New York Times profile piece is that Stefani was in such a depression over the split that she thought she was going to die.

Of her mindset at the time, Stefani said, “I am dead, actually. How do I save myself? What am I going to do? How do I not go down like this?”

It seems like recording her new album really helped her start the healing process after a relationship riddled with various cheating, reports Vanity Fair.

“Being in that room and being creative, it was the only place that felt good – I was like, I love the smell of this room.”

Of her relationship record, Stefani admitted that she’s only been in two relationships, excluding Blake.

“When I met Tony [Kanal, bassist for No Doubt and Stefani’s first boyfriend], I was only 17, and I instantly was obsessed. It was the only relationship I had really ever had. And when we broke up, I met Gavin.”

As stated, Stefani moved on with Blake Shelton, who was going through his own divorce with country star Miranda Lambert when the two connected. There was also cheating allegations pinned on Miranda Lambert, which Blake hasn’t commented on.

Since hooking up, Gwen has accompanied Blake on trips back home to Oklahoma. The pair was spotted over the last few months spending a lot of time at Blake’s ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, with Shelton even taking Gavin’s three kids under his wing.

Locals there said that Gwen Stefani seemed to love the slower-paced life.

During a recent spring break trip, Stefani shared a video documenting her latest trip, saying to the camera, “This is actually happening right now. Am I in a dream?”

Recently, she opened up about her relationship with Blake Shelton. While she doesn’t go into great detail about the relationship, the No Doubt singer said that she’s in love with him “for sure.”

She continued, “God knows what’s going to happen.”
