Jennifer Lopez, Sting, And Enrique Iglesias Entertain At $1 Billion Wedding

If you can imagine someone spending $1 billion on a wedding, then you can understand why Jennifer Lopez, Sting, and Enrique Iglesias were the entertainment at the wedding of a Russian oligarch’s son and his fiancée. This all reportedly happened over the past weekend in a luxury Moscow restaurant.

Russian oil tycoon Mikhail Gutseriev decided to spare absolutely no expense on Saturday, when his son and the heir to his fortune, Said Gutseriev, exchanged vows with his fiancée, Khadija Uzhakhovs. Reportedly, the newlyweds are both in their 20s and an Instagram image of them is included here.

The wedding reception was held at the luxury Moscow restaurant and banqueting venue Safisa, which was reportedly dripping with fairy lights and wall-to-wall fresh flowers, with the cost setting a new level for extravagance. The furniture at the venue was reportedly sourced from Paris, France.

Have a look at the blushing bride below. The 28-pound custom gown was reportedly designed by Elie Saab and is estimated to have cost almost $25,000.

Forbes says Mikhail Gutseriev has a net worth of $6.2 billion and he spent $1 billion of that fortune to hire Jennifer Lopez, Sting, and Enrique Iglesias as the entertainment, along with several other fancy options, at the Moscow wedding reception.

As for the food served at the $1 billion wedding reception, the 600 guests were reportedly served sushi, along with a full European meal. Dining ended with the presentation of a wedding cake that was taller than the newly married couple. Have you ever seen a wedding cake this size?

As to how the wedding party of 600 lucky people got to the affair, they apparently arrived in a fleet of Rolls Royces. Reportedly, when they all left, each guest received their very own elaborate jewelry box. It is unknown how much these luxurious gifts set Said’s father back.

According to Today Style, photos and videos of the music superstars‘ performances, including that of Jennifer Lopez herself, were subsequently posted on social media by the guests at the event, some of which can be seen in this article.

In music clips posted on Instagram, Sting can be seen on stage with a group of women and young girls, all swaying to his rendition of his song “Desert Rose.” Below is a photo of Sting, looking handsome and holding a bouquet of flowers. Maybe he caught it from the bride?

Enrique could be seen inviting young boys, all dressed in smart tuxedos, to dance with him as he performed his hit song “Bailando.” The Spanish singer was wearing his signature T-shirt and baseball hat at the fancy event. You can have a brief look at Enrique Iglesias performing in the video clip included below.

Harper’s Bazaar reports that Jennifer Lopez had to make at least three costume changes during her performance at the luxurious wedding reception where she sang many of her greatest hits, including, “On the Floor,” “Dance Again,” and “Get Right.” You can watch a clip of part of Jennifer’s performance below, where she certainly appears to be enjoying herself.

In another video clip posted to Instagram, Jennifer can be heard congratulating the newlyweds, Said and Khadija, and admitting that pronouncing their names correctly was “the hardest thing I had to do today.”

There are several more video clips and images available on the Wedding World Instagram page.

As to the price of the whole luxury shebang, there was no report of the actual figure, but Harper’s Bazaar put the figure at around $1 billion.

While the media went crazy over the extravagant event, there was some criticism at the amount laid out for a wedding. The Guardian said in their report how Russia’s economy is currently in recession due to Western sanctions and low oil prices, and they report that 3 million people fell into poverty in the last year in Russia.
