Anthony Stewart Head Is Cast In Freeform’s ‘Guilt’ With Daughter Daisy

Though Daisy Head (The Syndicate) has been attached to the new upcoming soapy murder drama Guilt for some time now, Freeform announced today that her father, actor Anthony Stewart Head (Dominion, Merlin, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), will be joining her, playing her wealthy and “charming” stepfather. Filmed in London, England, Guilt is “a story of murder, scandal and intrigue stretching all the way from underground sex clubs to the highest levels of the royal family,” says the press release. In addition to Stewart Head, the series stars Billy Zane (Titanic), Emily Tremaine (Vinyl), Cristian Solimeno (Rush), Naomi Ryan (Guardians of the Galaxy), Kevin Ryan (Copper), Zachary Fall (Crossing Lines), Simona Brown (The Casual Vacancy), and newcomer Sam Cassidy.

Guilt‘s story begins with the murder of Molly Ryan who was the roommate of Grace (Daisy Head) who has become the case’s prime suspect. Her sister Natalie (Tremaine) instantly leaves her home in Boston to help defend her. Steward Head plays their stepfather.

As to be expected, the story of Guilt won’t be completely cut and dried as Natalie begins to doubt her sister’s innocence as more and more stories about her sis come about. Matters aren’t helped by the fact that Grace’s attorney (Zane) appears to have questionable morals. Then, there is dear old stepdad who has always had a close relationship with Grace but no so much with Natalie. She also begins to wonder if the attorney her stepdad hired is really meant to be used as a cover up for his shady dealings and possible connection to the murder. Solimeno plays D.S. Bruno, a detective sergeant with Scotland Yard. Finally, there is the Crown Prosecutor, Gwendolyn (Naomi Ryan), who apparently has a “complicated” relationship with Bruno.

Guilt also stars Kevin Ryan as Patrick, the brother of the murder victim who vows to get revenge on the killer. Zachary Fall plays Grace’s drug-addicted boyfriend and Sam Cassidy as Prince Theo who is a member of the royal family.

Guilt is our first series to start production under our new Freeform banner and the perfect series to expand our programming slate,” said Karey Burke, executive vice president, Programming and Development, Freeform. “This dark and twisted psychological thriller plays with the nature of guilt and goodness in a world where no one is who they seem to be. It will take our viewers on a roller coaster ride that will have them tuning in for more every week.”

“We’re excited to kick off production of Guilt in London, the perfect setting for a series that involves international intrigue, royalty and salacious goings-on,” said Chris Selak, executive vice president, Television, Lionsgate Television. “With our all-star cast led by Billy Zane, Daisy Head and Emily Tremaine, we look forward to creating a delicious whodunit that has viewers buzzing.”

For Anthony Stewart Head, Guilt is another chance to act from home as he is originally from Camden Town in north London, England. The English actor and musician is known for his roles as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Uther Pendragon in Merlin, and Geoffrey Howe in The Iron Lady. He has also been seen in the movie Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. He and his partner, Sarah Fisher, are parents to both Daisy Head and her sister Emily.

Kathryn Price and Nichole Millard, who both worked on The Game Plan, wrote and serve as executive producers for Guilt for the network formerly known as ABC Family. Guilt is a co-production of Sea to Sky Entertainment (which is actually a joint venture between Lionsgate Television and Thunderbird Films) and BV Family Productions.
