‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe Play The Newlywed Game [Watch]

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have great on-screen chemistry, but how well do the Outlander stars know each other in real life? While fans wait for the arrival of Season 2, Heughan and Balfe sat down with ET Online and played The Newlywed Game together. Apart from providing a nice break from #droughtlander, how many questions about each other did they get right?

Heughan and Balfe were asked a wide range of questions during the interview. The inquiries included guilty pleasures, on-set snacking, and a wide range of personal preferences. Naturally, the game turned competitive, as the two Outlander stars tried to beat each other.

Of course, the best moment in the video came when the two were asked, “What’s Caitriona’s idea of a perfect date?” Surprisingly, Heughan got the question right when wrote down food, music, and wine, which led to an interesting interaction between the on-screen couple.

“We should go on a date, babe,” Balfe playfully said. “Are you asking me out?” Heughan quipped. “No,” Balfe quickly responded.

While the two didn’t get the majority of questions correct, Balfe did have a slight edge over Heughan. In fact, Balfe was declared the winner at the end, which should give her plenty of bragging rights going into the new season.

At the same time, the interview is likely to inspire more rumors regarding Heughan and Balfe’s relationship outside of work. Although many fans want nothing more the two to date in real life, Heughan and Balfe have not shied away from the question in recent weeks.

In fact, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Balfe tried to put the romance rumors to rest once and for all. In speaking truthfully about the matter, the actress admitted that she and Heughan keep things strictly professional.

“Honestly, I’m tired of that conversation,” Balfe stated. “This is fantasy. This is our job. We are very different in our private life. We are best friends. From the moment we met, we got along. Sam is one of the most generous people you’ll ever meet. Such a great guy, no ego involved.”

For his part, Heughan echoed Balfe’s sentiments and added that all the rumors are a reflection of their chemistry on-screen. Even still, the actor went on to reveal that he is still adjusting to all the fame that has come with his part in the popular series.

“It saddens me a bit, but I guess that means we’ve done a good job,” Heughan shared. “I don’t know. It’s a strange one. I’m still coming to terms with what it’s like to have people follow your personal life as well as your public life. It gets amusing. But she’s just wonderful. We’re very good friends.”

Meanwhile, E! Online is reporting that the relationship between Jamie (Heughan) and Claire (Balfe) is set to take a different turn in Season 2. In fact, Claire is sporting a new baby bump in the new season, which has apparently distracted Heughan throughout production.

“I’m kind of obsessed by it,” Heughan revealed. “It’s really fun to poke, and also just rub it.”

Despite the baby bump, Heughan added that Claire is just as sexy in Season 2 than she was in the first year. “We kind of fought for that a little bit, because I think it is important that it’s not sort of glamorized,” he stated. “It is real. Women who are pregnant are sexy, and glowing, and I think it was really hot.”

As fans will recall, the news of Claire’s pregnancy was revealed at the end of the first season. While the couple heads to Paris, France, in order to change history, her pregnancy is set to be another challenge the two will have to work through in season two.

The second season of Outlander premieres April 4 on Starz.
