‘Pokemon GO’ Release Date: Rumors And Leaked Images From Field Test In Japan [Watch]

Niantic has just revealed more details about their new Pokemon GO app. The app will release Pokemon from the virtual world into an augmented reality using Pokemon GO.

Hopes for an earlier release date of Pokemon GO seemed diminished recently. Pokemon fans recently received some bad news about the release date of Pokemon GO via the Inquisitr regarding the GDC cancellation of Pokemon Go.

Reports emerged that the Pokemon GO showcase had to be canceled on March 14 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco for unclear reasons.

The creators of Pokemon GO, Niantic, promised to release huge details about the game at GDC.

“Attendees will get a first-hand, in-depth look at how players are interacting and exploring the world with one another through Pokemon GO, the collaborative approach to design and development for the game and the next evolution of augmented reality and real-world mobile gameplay experiences.”

However, Niantic has finally delivered on its promise to release more details about the Pokemon GO app. According to information released on the Niantic website, Pokemon GO combines mobile location technology (think Google Maps) and augmented reality to “create a unique game experience that motivates players to go outside and explore the world around them.”

Pokemon GO players will explore their natural surroundings to find and catch wild Pokemon, just like in the Pokemon games.

Also akin to the Pokemon franchise, certain wild Pokemon will appear in their respective habitats as they would in the game.

For instance, Squirtle may pop up by your local pond outside and Caterpie in your flower Garden.

The Pokemon GO app will be smart enough to differentiate between different environments and will effectively program the corresponding wild Pokemon to appear in that area.

Pokemon GO players can also acquire items such as eggs, Poke Balls, and other special items on its release date. In order to do so, Pokemon GO users will have to visit their local “PokeStops.

“PokeStops” will be located at historical markers, museums, and monuments, and any other public place of interest, forcing homebodies to get outdoors if only to restock on Poke-supplies.

The Pokemon GO app also functions by the player’s physical actions. Simply walking will hatch previously-acquired eggs that might reveal new Pokemon.

So far, Pokemon GO fans were worried if there will be battles — the most fun part about Pokemon — upon the release date, as no prior details were given. Niantic has put everyone’s fears to rest.

“Yes, there will be battles. Players will be encouraged to join one of three teams in order to compete over the ownership.”

In addition, Niantic has confirmed that there will even be Gym battles. As for the location of the Gyms themselves, Niantic has stated that they will be at the PokeStops as well.

An early user field test is rumored to begin in Japan very soon as the release date draws near. Tech Raptor reports that a field test is rumored to be underway at the time of this writing.

Here are some of the leaked Pokeballs reportedly usable in Pokemon GO.

PC Adviser suggests that Pokemon GO could have an April 2016 release. There is more news to come soon as an exact release date for Pokemon GO gets closer.
