John Stamos Teases New Netflix Project, ‘Fuller House’ Star To Receive TV Land Icon Award

John Stamos is turning into one of the busiest guys in Hollywood. The actor and singer, who currently stars on the Fox comedy series Grandfathered, and recently got the green light for a second season of his Netflix hit, Fuller House, is teasing that he has a new project in the works for the on-demand streaming giant. Stamos posted a photo of himself on Instagram, telling fans that he’s excited for the upcoming—and still secret—project.

“Stay tuned for news on my amazing new project with my good friends @netflix — Super excited about this!!”

While Stamos didn’t elaborate on his new Netflix gig, we’re pretty sure it was all part of an elaborate April Fools’ Day joke. Netflix posted a trailer for a faux John Stamos documentary that we wish was a real show!

In his real acting life, John has a way with kid-filled casts, as proven on Full House, Fuller House, and Grandfathered. At last year’s Television Critics Association Panel for Grandfathered, Stamos even joked about the common thread on three of his most successful shows.

“Do you see a pattern in my work?… I feel like I’m the baby whisperer now … I’ve made other twins a lot of money. Stop crying; you’ll get a clothing line.”

Of course, John Stamos knows his way around a good drama, too. The actor was set to star in the ABC drama 13-episode Members Only last year, but the network scrapped the series at the last minute. The show was expected to follow the members of an exclusive Connecticut country club and was slated to star Stamos, Betsy Brandt, and Natalie Zea. Sounds like great fodder for a Netflix pickup!

Fans can’t wait to see what John Stamos has up his sleeve next, and it really could be anything considering he’s done almost everything in his career, which spans more than 35 years. In fact, Stamos has had such a prolific career that he will be honored with a major award alongside TV legend Norman Lear. According to a press release posted by Broadway World, John Stamos will be presented with the Timeless Icon Award at TV Land’s Icon Awards next month. The award is presented to “an entertainer whose extraordinary work spans generations,” and John Stamos certainly fits the bill.

While John is best known for his role as Jesse Katsopolis on the ’80s/’90s sitcom Full House and its modern day spinoff, he started his career way back in 1982 on the daytime General Hospital. Stamos played troubled foster teen Blackie Parrish on the iconic ABC soap.

Stamos went on to star on the long-running NBC medical drama ER as Dr. Tony Gates, and landed the title role in the comedy Jake in Progress, before nabbing the role as a dashing 50-year-old grandpa Jimmy Martino on Grandfathered. John also hit the big screen recently for the film sequel My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.

John Stamos has been working steadily since the ’80s, but he has had a bit of a career revival in recent years. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Stamos said his priorities have changed now that he’s in his 50s.

“I like to make people happy. I know this sounds corny [but] later in life I get more enjoyment out of doing something for other people or seeing someone have a good time or laugh. And, I like music, like the kind I do with the Beach Boys; it’s universal and opens people’s hearts.”

John Stamos’ TV co-stars—including Full House alums Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin and Grandfathered stars co-stars Paget Brewster and Josh Peck—and legendary TV and film producer Garry Marshall will present him with his Icon award. In addition, John’s longtime friends and musical collaborators The Beach Boys will perform a medley of their hit songs in honor of Stamos.

The 2016 TV Land Icon Awards will air Sunday April 17th at 9/8c on TV Land.
