‘Real Housewives Of Potomac’ Star Ashley Darby Almost Didn’t Marry Her Husband

Real Housewives of Potomac star Ashley Darby is the wild child of Potomac, and fans are falling in love with her because she’s laid back, easy, and refreshing. There aren’t too many rules and etiquette standards with her, and fans love that she challenges her Real Housewives of Potomac co-stars on various things, including their behavior and contractions. Ashley’s marriage has been the focus of many discussions on the show, and now she’s speaking out about how she felt when he proposed to her.

According to a new Bravo report, Real Housewives of Potomac star Ashley Darby is now revealing that she actually hesitated when Michael proposed to her, because he had just gotten out of another marriage. He hadn’t been single for that long, and Ashley didn’t want him rushing into another marriage.

“It was fairly surreal when Michael proposed just because I wasn’t sure if I was going to say yes. I didn’t give him an answer for about five minutes,” Ashley told the Daily Dish about her marriage, adding, “I had to let it sink in because we had issues where he was saying he wasn’t ready for commitment yet. And he had been married for 20 years, and he had only been separated for 10 months when we got together, when we first started dating. So he didn’t really have a chance to go out and date and explore. He just kind of went from one relationship — he did go out on a couple dates with some girls I heard about, but whatever — and then right into me.”

As it turns out, Ashley Darby knew that Michael was dating various people, and she was actually jealous of his flings. But it was wise of her to take the time to herself, as she knew what she wanted when they finally did get together again. As it turns out, this time apart was great for Darby, because she realized what she wanted — and she went after it.

“When we finally did get together, it was like, because we did have that time apart, we just knew that this was the right thing to do. We had clarified,” Darby has revealed, adding, “We came into the relationship with a much more sound sense of who we wanted to be and how we wanted to be as a couple. So I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

As it turns out, Michael keeps surprising Ashley Darby with various things, and she admits that the proposal was a bit over the top for her. Plus, he then surprised her with a Porsche for her birthday. As Darby explains, he just keeps upping himself and surprising her. It is clear that he absolutely loves her and wants to do anything for her.

The Real Housewives of Potomac stars have questioned Ashley quite a bit about her marriage, especially due to the age difference. And over the past couple of episodes, Michael has been labeled as having no manners and has even been accused of having a taste for men, because he grabbed Andrew’s butt during an episode. Despite all of the criticism, Darby has nothing but positive things to say about her husband, and she knows that they have plenty in common, which is why they are still together.

“People ask all the time, ‘What do you have in common? You’re 29 years apart. He’s from a different continent. He’s a different race. He has a different political affiliation,'” Ashley explains of her marriage, adding, “Like, I don’t know if you could get anymore polarizing than Michael and me, but we have those common characteristics that just bring us together.”
