Jodie Sweetin Sizzles With ‘DWTS’ Samba, Gets Visit From ‘Fuller House’ Co-Stars [Video]

Jodie Sweetin stepped up her game on Dancing With the Stars. The Fuller House star wowed the judges and upped her leaderboard score for Week 2 on the ABC celebrity ballroom competition, and she showed fans a new side of herself. On her blog for People, Jodie wrote that she didn’t initially feel comfortable with the sexy samba routine.

“It took a few days for me to feel comfortable with the routine… I’m a mom of two young kids. It has been a long time since I have embraced my sexy side. I think a lot of moms would agree that when you become a parent, you think of yourself as a mother first, and then a woman as a distant second.”

Sweetin added that she plans to embrace her sexy side going forward.

“I’ve had to work on telling myself that you can be both at the same time. I think that’s an important lesson for me to take with me long after this competition is over.”

It’s only the second week of Dancing With the Stars, but Jodie Sweetin has been hard on herself because she’s a perfectionist. The video package for week 2 showed the former child star having a meltdown doing rehearsals with pro partner Keo Motsepe. During rehearsals, Jodie was having trouble learning her samba for DWTS Latin week, and she became frustrated and walked out of rehearsals.

“Keo has been a great teacher, but this is the first time since we started rehearsing that I felt like I wasn’t picking up the steps fast enough. That was tough for me but I think I’m a stronger dancer – and person, really – because I was able to buckle down and get the steps.”

Jodie and Keo’s hard work paid off, and they received 21 points from the DWTS judges and this comment from Len Goodman: “You didn’t need the flames, that samba was hot enough!”

Jodie Sweetin’s Fuller House cast is already showing support for her. Longtime pal Andrea Barber, who plays Kimmy Gibbler on the Full House spinoff, was spotted cheering on Jodie from the DWTS audience.

In addition, Jodie’s Uncle Joey — aka actor Dave Coulier — paid her a visit during Dancing With the Stars rehearsals, as did show creator Jeff Franklin.

Jodie Sweetin has also taken some good advice from her TV big sister, Candace Cameron Bure, who competed on Season 18 of Dancing With the Stars. Sweetin told Us Weekly that Candace advised her to just enjoy her time on the celebrity ballroom competition, despite the fact that those Monday night live shows can be a bit stressful.

“Monday nights were really hard for her. She kind of freaked out. [But] she told me to enjoy it.”

Jodie told Parade that Candace also advised her to live in the moment, something that’s hard for a busy mom of two to do.

“She told me it’s crazy and it’s hectic and you are going to be incredibly busy and you are going to push yourself beyond what you think you can do, but to enjoy every moment…So that is what I am trying to do, just soak it up and be very present each day…Four or five hours of dancing a day, and I train several times a week. I work out really hard, but this is a completely different skill set. My feet are really sore. Dancing in 3-inch heels for four or five hours, by the end of it, I am pretty done with that.”
