Is Caitlyn Jenner Becoming A Pariah In The LGBT Community?

In a recent episode of I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner was faced with a sea of protesters at a Chicago event who say she shouldn’t represent the transgender community. Gossip Cop has the news.

“Several trans protesters gathered around holding up signs that said such things as, ‘I Ain’t Cait,’ and one woman with a loudspeaker yelled, ‘You’re an insult to all trans people! You don’t represent us, you’re a disgrace to our community. You have no right to speak for us!’ She continued, ‘You get those awards, you dress up, but you have no idea what it’s really like. Get away from us!'”

The article added that Caitlyn walked up to the woman with the loudspeaker and said she’s not representing the trans community. Jenner explained she was just representing herself, and Caitlyn certainly did have her defenders at the event. However, this is just another example of the backlash Ms. Jenner is experiencing from the LGBT community. As Access Hollywood notes, Jenner’s conservative political views and support for Ted Cruz has upset many in the community.

“Her latest political remarks — underscoring her conservative outlook and praising Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz — ignited a storm of criticism from supporters of transgender rights, who view most conservative Republicans as adversaries.”

Queerty recently published an article on how Caitlyn Jenner made some small talk with Hillary Clinton. The responses to the article were brutal.

“I honestly don’t think I would be able to prevent myself from punching Caitlyn in the face if I ever met her,” claimed Laurence James.

“Caitlyn is a nutjob insane looser scary looking freak of nature looks like a serial killer on Halloween,” said Sand Nierenberg.

“Caitlyn Jenner is an embarrassment to the community and should just disappear #fake #mediawhore,” ranted Cristian Cortes Silva.

The Huffington Post, which originally praised Caitlyn Jenner in 2015, has been publishing anti-Caitlyn articles on almost a daily basis. The one titled “Dear Caitlyn: Stop.Please.Stop.” was highly read and talked about.

“Much as I’m reluctant to further any infighting within the transgender and gender nonconforming community, I also have a responsibility to speak truth to power. Your visibility has gone from mildly annoying, to problematic, to atrocious, to outright detrimental, and so I ask you, politely: Stop trying to help through the media and public appearances. Please. Stop,” writes columnist Laura A. Jacobs.

Ms. Jacobs does praise Caitlyn for coming out publicly as trans while offering support and resources. She says, however, that things went downhill after the debut of the reality show, I Am Cait. Once again, the comments after the article were toxic.

“When this public transition began I said immediately that this would not be a boon for the trans community. This is a part of the Kardashian freak show and will be nothing less ever,” claimed commenter Vicki Corum.

“I cant be the only one that remains unconvinced by her decision to come out as transgender, considering it was only a month or so after ‘accidentally’ killing someone,” answered Ryan Sinnott.

The LGBT community hasn’t been nice to Caitlyn Jenner on Twitter either.
