‘Star Wars Battlefront III’ Being Secretly Resurrected

Star Wars Battlefront III is the most top-secret, unauthorized Star Wars project ever. While there is extreme secrecy surrounding the making of the space opera’s legitimate eighth incarnation in film format, volunteer programmers have surreptitiously teamed up to resurrect an action shooter game that got shot down as a result of the Disney take over in 2012.

It is the Star Wars video shooter game that never was. Battlefront III to-date has reached an iconic status, rivaling the mystery surrounding the secret location of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If the rebel gaming project succeeds, the Battlefront version can be a slap on Disney’s face. However, if the entertainment empire deems it to be highly profitable in the future, executives might be kind enough to buy it from its ragtag team of creators.

As it is right now, the rogue volunteer programmers are at a disadvantage because it is obvious that they don’t have the rightful owner’s blessings. It is like pulling the rug from beneath the feet of the Galactic Republic, or forming a rebel alliance of some sort. And this is why even looking for the rogue team’s Internet address on the Information Superhighway, with the intent of joining or donating to the team, is as froth with dangers as Princess Leia trying to relay secret Death Star plans to the resistance.

But for those who just cannot resist the temptation of pitching in one’s game programming skills, the code words are “Galaxy in Turmoil.” This is not the first time the game has been given a secret name. It has been called simply as Version Two before.

The bottom line is, programmers behind such a rebellion will not be making any money if their project succeeds. The best case scenario is that it will suffer the fate of an open source computer operating system like Linux. Getting the gaming software to market is equally perilous. The rebels will require someone with the expertise of Han Solo to smuggle the game into PCs, tablets and smartphones.

Under existing technology, this will be tantamount to file sharing over the Internet or torrents, in one word. From an outsider’s point of view, the big question is why Battlefront 3? What is so special about this game that Star Wars fans are hell-bent on getting the particular Battlefront version operational? An examination of a leaked version of the game, as captured by BGR, may reveal the reason behind all the fascination.

Gamers must play it to believe it. Here’s another working copy of the original Star Wars Battlefront III, this time from GameSpot. For detailed background information regarding the game’s history, turn to Wikia.

These leaked copies, although operational, are Star Wars Battlefront III in its purest form. They were the original version when the ax fell on LucasArts. To-date, no one knows for sure where the volunteer programmers are at in terms of completion. To form one’s own judgment of whether the rebel endeavor is worth all the sacrifice, turn to the official versions of Star Wars Battlefront, courtesy of Polygon.

And so, it has come to this. Apparent delays in the original contractor’s delivery of the Star Wars Battlefront III project dating back to 2006, has a created a void. One that may never be filled without creating a serious rift between the establishment and an army of game programming volunteers. Only time will tell if the struggle is worth it, or an exercise in futility.

The battle has barely begun. Which side are you on? Are you ready to join the rebel alliance for Star Wars Battlefront III or would you rather be part of the establishment? Feel free to start or join the Inquisitr conversation, by filling in your comments below.
