Christina Aguilera Out As Coach Of ‘The Voice’ After Rumored Feud With Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton

Christina Aguilera will be exiting The Voice after she wraps production on Season 10. On March 25, NBC announced that both Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams would be leaving the show after the currently airing season to make way for Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys, who join the series as coaches.

Cyrus was first to announce the news on Friday, via social media, where she shared her cast photo and announced her new role on the show.

“The musical expertise and energy these two incredibly talented women will bring to the show is remarkable,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of alternative and late-night programming. “We’re thrilled that they’ll be joining Adam and Blake in what we know will be a magical 11th season.”

According to Variety, Cyrus and Keys will join Adam Levine and Blake Shelton when the show resumes production in September. And when it comes to Christina Aguilera and Williams’ future with the show, the outlet noted that they “may well be back” for future seasons, as NBC has a history of alternating talent.

On March 26, the Morning Ledger posed a question to readers, suggesting Christina Aguilera may have been fired after The Voice Season 10 due to her ongoing feuds with her co-stars, which have reportedly included tensions with Adam Levine, and more recently, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.

Just weeks ago, it was reported that Christina Aguilera was furious after learning NBC had allegedly offered Stefani and Shelton a bonus to continue featuring their romance, and their PDA, on the show.

“Blake and Gwen are getting an interesting offer from the show’s execs,” a source told Radar Online on March 10. “Producers want the two of them to give fans a full-on love-fest this season when she is a mentor on Team Blake, and they are going to throw in huge bonuses for exclusives, such as on-air duets, engagements, etc.”

“[Christina Aguilera] is furious!” the site explained. “Christina wants Gwen out of the picture and is already throwing mini-tantrums about it.”

Christina Aguilera was so upset with Stefani and Shelton’s romance taking the spotlight on the show that she even took aim at Stefani’s career, claiming she wasn’t a great singer.

“She said that Gwen is ‘not vocally talented’ and would not be on the show at all anymore if it was not for her relationship with Blake,” the source noted.

Reports of a feud between Christina Aguilera and Stefani first began years ago, well before her romance with Shelton began. So, judging by Radar‘s report, it sounds like Christina Aguilera was pushed over the edge by her co-stars’ new romance.

Meanwhile, as Christina Aguilera was reportedly throwing a fit behind-the-scenes, Shelton was staying calm, choosing not to play into her diva antics.

“Blake really does not care what [Christina Aguilera] does or says,” the insider said. “He is a completely different person now because of Gwen, so much more laid-back. He said that he’s grateful the show is the reason that he and Gwen found each other.”

Around the same time, OK! Magazine claimed Christina Aguilera was threatening to quit The Voice altogether, due to the ongoing attention Stefani and Shelton were receiving. But despite the report, there has been no confirmation of Christina Aguilera quitting the series.
