The Walking Dead Recap: Season 6, Episode 15, “East”

Essentially, the episode 15 recap of season 6 of The Walking Dead exists as a bridge between the events leading up to it, and a way to place all the characters in the right places for the season 6 finale next week. In a nutshell, here’s what went down in episode 15 of The Walking Dead.

Carol (Melissa McBride) has been battling of late with what she has done to survive in the aftermath of the apocalypse. Now, she decides to leave Alexandria so she no longer has to feel all the feels she does for the people she loves. In the process, she comes across yet another group of Negan’s and manages to single-handedly take them out. Mostly. One survives and starts tracking her at the same time Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan (Lennie James) are tracking what they assume is an injured Carol. And, for all the Walking Dead audience knows, Carol could very well be injured as the shot that occurred between Carol and the remaining member of Negan’s group happened off-screen, and there is no way to verify in this recap if Carol was injured or not.

While everything occurring between Carol, Rick and Morgan is unfolding, there is also another off-screen shooting unfolding. But I will get to that later on in this recap of The Walking Dead

Of concern to note during episode 15 of The Walking Dead is just how many of Alexandria’s important battle-ready citizens are outside the walls at the very time they are expecting retaliation from Negan’s group. While Rick and Morgan are searching for Carol, Daryl (Norman Reedus) has left, trying to locate and kill Dwight (Austin Amelio). Following in his footsteps are Rosita (Christian Serratos), Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). Luckily, Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) has stayed behind, and Morgan manages to convince Rick to return to the Alexandria Safe Zone by the end of episode 15 of The Walking Dead. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) is also still in Alexandria, however, after getting a new haircut, gets extreme stomach pains. My prediction in this recap is that if Maggie loses her child, Glenn will survive Morgan’s wrath in the season 6 finale. And, as has been confirmed by Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, the episode 16 of The Walking Dead may not play out the way comic book fans expect.

So a decent chunk of important members of The Walking Dead are still outside the walls and in immediate danger from Negan himself. And, for comic book fans, we all know what that could potentially mean for Glenn if he manages to bump into Negan in the season 6 finale, but this might not even happen the way it did in the comics as Dwight manages to capture Glenn and Michonne and uses them as bait.

And this bait is just the right thing to attract Daryl. And so we get to that part of this recap where things become a bit more blurry. While it is bad enough not to know if Carol is injured or not. Dwight fires a shot at Daryl, and before Walking Dead fans even realize what is going on, the screen goes black and we have to wait a whole week to find out Daryl’s fate. Although, according to an interview Norman Reedus did with Entertainment Weekly, Daryl has definitely been shot in episode 15.
