Ben Affleck Improvised ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’s’ Funniest Moment

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. If you’ve not watched the superhero hybrid then you should proceed cautiously or not at all.

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice finally made it into cinemas earlier this week, and while the reviews for the blockbuster have been rather underwhelming, there were still some rather impressive moments in the blockbuster.

One of these scenes saw Ben Affleck’s Batman curse after he came face to face with Doomsday – the behemoth creature that was created by Lex Luthor using the body of Michael Shannon’s General Zod.

Discussing the scene, Ben Affleck has now admitted that he improvised this reaction, which comes after Batman uses the Batwing to get Doomsday’s attention so that he can get the beast to move out of Metropolis towards Gotham where he can use a Kryptonite-infused weapon to fight the monster.

Once Batman arrives at this location, Doomsday’s actions lead the Batwing to crash. The creature then looks at Batman and lunges towards him, which provokes Ben Affleck to remark, “Oh, s***.”

Explaining how the scene came to be, Ben Affleck explained to Entertainment Weekly, “I just improv’d that. I had a feeling that it would work and that it would be funny. I improvised and I talked to Zack about it and I think this will really work because you don’t expect it – and because it’s Batman, and at that moment he is so incredibly overmatched.”

Ben Affleck believes that it was the perfect response from Batman, while he also insisted that it actually helped to humanize the character, which is perfect for Zack Snyder’s more serious and mature take on the caped crusader.

“We’ve taken these characters and are treating them more and more realistically,” the Oscar-winning screenwriter for Good Will Hunting added. “It seems very realistic that he would say that at that point.”

But is Ben Affleck worried that younger fans will be offended or insulted by Batman’s vulgar use of language? Not at all. In fact, Ben Affleck believes that most children have probably already been exposed to such remarks already.

“Any kid has heard their father say that if he’s trying to hammer a nail and hammers his thumb ay accident,” Ben Affleck continued. “I think that, unfortunately, all kids are plenty exposed to that particular expression.”

Despite the horrific reviews, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice has opened to a huge box office amount. Currently, the blockbuster has grossed over $424 million worldwide. $170.1 million of that was grossed in the United States Of America, while it has made $254 million in its other territories, too.

This will be a welcome relief to Warner Bros. because Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is not only the sequel to Man Of Steel, but the studio is also planning on releasing nine other films as part of the DC Extended Universe.

This will include Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League Part One, The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Justice League Part Two, Cyborg, and Green Lantern Corps.

In order for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice to turn a profit, it’s believed that it will have to gross $800 million. That’s because it reportedly cost $250 million to produce while it’s also believed that a further $150 million has been spent on marketing.
