Arian Foster Could End Up Signing With The Seattle Seahawks

Arian Foster has yet to see much interest in NFL free agency so far, but he is still very confident that he can help the team who gives him a chance. After being released by the Houston Texans this offseason, the Seattle Seahawks seem like a potential fit for him.

John Clayton of ESPN stated that Foster could be an option for the Seahawks and could push Thomas Rawls for the starting job.

It would be a very intriguing fit for the Seahawks to say the very least. Seattle is the type of team that can bring a veteran on board and get another couple big seasons out of him. Foster would fit into Pete Carroll’s offense nicely and could end up being the starting running back if Rawls doesn’t make a huge leap forward.

Last season with the Texans, Foster was only able to play in four regular season games. He carried the football 63 times for 163 yards and a touchdown. Foster also caught 22 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns.

At 29-years-old, Foster still has plenty of time left to play at a high level if he can stay healthy.

Looking back on his entire career, Foster has been one of the top backs in the NFL when he has been on-the-field for a whole year. There is no question that he can make a major impact for the Seahawks. Russell Wilson needs as much help as possible, which is exactly why signing Foster at a discounted price would be a good move for the Seahawks.

Not only could Foster be a help to the Seattle ground game, he could also be a dangerous receiver out of the backfield. Having a dual-threat running back can take an offense to the next level.

Seattle has all of the tools to be a serious contender in the 2016 season. They will still have one of the top defenses in the NFL and will also have some dangerous offensive weapons as well. Foster would simply add to the weapons that the Seahawks would have to work with and could also bring more veteran leadership to the table.

Throughout Foster’s career with the Texans, he became a major fan favorite. Even though he dealt with many different injuries, fans continued giving him chances because they knew just how good he is capable of being.

If Foster did end up signing with Seattle, he would have a much better chance to put up big numbers than he ever did in Houston. That alone should scare opponents if Foster ended up with the Seahawks. He was able to put up big numbers for the Texans despite the fact that they didn’t have a great quarterback or offensive line.

At this point in time, there has been no news about what kind of contract Foster is targeting in free agency.

Marshawn Lynch retiring makes things a bit more difficult on Seattle. Rawls showed some starting potential last year, but there is no telling what he will look like coming off of a broken ankle. Adding a veteran piece like Foster would give exactly the kind of depth that a championship caliber team has to have.

Needless to say, the Seahawks haven’t had a weapon like a healthy Foster would be in a long time.

Expect to hear plenty more rumors surrounding the Seahawks as the offseason continues. They have always been the type of team to be aggressive in the offseason, as can be seen from last year’s trade for star tight end Jimmy Graham. Foster would be a great addition for the Seahawks and it wouldn’t be shocking to see the two sides explore the option.

Do you think that Arian Foster would be a good fit with the Seattle Seahawks? Could he turn his career around with a fresh start?
