Ambitious Harry Styles Having Trouble Making Big Hollywood Break
Harry Styles is reportedly having a hard time breaking into Hollywood, while former One Direction member Zayn Malik is burning up the music charts.
The 22-year-old is having a hard time focusing on both his acting and music career after leaving One Direction. The ambitious British pop star has high hopes for his future. Styles wants to take Hollywood by storm by embarking on his acting career. Sources told Britain’s Heat magazine that Styles’ big Hollywood break isn’t as easy as he’d hoped it would be.
“Harry wants to break into Hollywood, but it’s proving to be a struggle. He gets offered silly bit parts and cameos, but that’s not what he’s interested in.”
That’s probably because Styles lacks formal acting training. He still hasn’t pursued any acting classes, although he has taken up some vocal training. But Styles thinks that it doesn’t matter, and the acting offers should just flow in.
“He’s not had acting classes, but he’s been around for ages and has done media training and music videos for years. He thinks he can wing it.”
Sources claim Harry’s ego got a huge boost when he was praised by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. The producer already dubbed the singer a “movie star,” and said that he’s looking to cast him in an upcoming film without an audition.
“When you meet him, he’s super-charismatic, I think the guy is a movie star. We offered him a part and he couldn’t do the movie because he had the tour.”
According to the Daily Star, Harry Styles may finally achieve minor success in Hollywood. The musician is reportedly in talks to star in a musical alongside Susan Boyle and Cara Delevingne. It will allow Styles to put both his singing and acting chops to use. The film should start filming later this year for a 2017 theatrical release. The report claims that this is the second role that Styles has been offered this month, so it doesn’t seem like he’s doing too bad.
The “Perfect” songwriter is also rumored to star in Christopher Nolan’s historical war film alongside Tom Hardy. Another source revealed that Harry hasn’t had trouble breaking into Hollywood. In fact, he’s had a handful of offers, but he’s most interested in starring in the musical even though he’s not the main lead. Instead, Harry is set on balancing both his Hollywood acting and solo music career.
But Styles isn’t the only one who’s set on making music. His former bandmate, Louis Tomlinson, is also interested in cracking into the music business, but by working in music management or artists & repertoire (A&R). Styles could face some hefty competition with Tomlinson since sources told Unreality TV U.K. that he’s looking to work in TV due to his close ties with Simon Cowell. It’s been rumored that he’s already scored a spot on the X Factor U.K. judging panel.
Harry Styles is still upset that his friend, Zayn Malik, has continued to diss the boy band, despite the fact that the two are still friends.
“Harry feels betrayed because he was always there for Zayn when he really needed a friend. Behind the scenes, Harry was a steady rock for Zayn, always building up his confidence. He never wanted to compete with Zayn, none of the guys wanted to compete with anyone. But Zayn was always really competitive and Harry just brushed it off as low self-esteem.”
Styles is reportedly upset that Malik dissed his former bandmates during promotion for his debut solo album, Mind of Mine. In a recent interview with NME, he said that the only former bandmate he still keeps in touch with is Liam Payne. Malik also revealed that he hasn’t seen or spoken to his other bandmates since before he left the band.
