Bristol Palin Posts Photo Of Ex-Fiance Dakota Meyer Visiting With Their Baby Girl

Bristol Palin has photographic proof that she’s amicably co-parenting with her ex-fiancé Dakota Meyer. The oldest daughter of Sarah Palin posted an Instagram pic of her ex holding their daughter, Sailor Grace. Bristol even captioned the pic, “Too cute not to share.”

The new photo shows that things have calmed down between the once bitter exes.

Bristol, 25, and Meyer, 27, recently began joint visitation after the war veteran filed court documents shortly after baby Sailor’s birth. Dakota’s Instagram page is loaded with inspirational quotes and messages, and the only photo he previously posted of his baby daughter was shortly after her birth in December, when he described her as “the best Christmas present ever.”

But expect to see more photos now that Meyer’s joint custody with Bristol has started. Bristol and Dakota reached an interim joint custody agreement last month, and he will regularly travel from Kentucky to Alaska to be with his 3-month-old daughter. According to People, Bristol initially sought primary interim physical custody of Sailor Grace, with Meyer, who lives in Kentucky, to be allowed “reasonable” visitation and no overnight visits. But Alaska Judge Herman G. Walker Jr. ruled that it is in the baby’s best interest for her to remain in Alaska with her mother, so Meyer will travel to Alaska twice a month to be with the child for four consecutive days at a time.

The complicated custody agreement over Sailor came around the same time that Bristol settled a lengthy joint custody battle with her other ex, Levi Johnston, over their 7-year-old son, Tripp, a case she said she did not “lose.” Bristol Palin has been vocal about the fact that she will encourage her two children to have good relationships with their fathers. Palin told Us Weekly she would never keep her kids away from their fathers.

“Every child deserves two loving parents, so I will continue to encourage that no matter what. I have never, and will never, keep them from having a positive relationship with their fathers. I did not ‘lose’ any custody case – my son has always spent most of his time with me and he will continue to do so, he is happy, healthy, and knows both of his parents love him. Matthew 5:11.”

Things were not always so amicable between Palin and her baby daddy, though. In fact, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight posted earlier this year, Bristol’s mom, Sarah Palin, said Meyer “wanted nothing to do” with either Bristol’s pregnancy or the baby. The former Alaska governor accused Meyer, a decorated Marine, of trying to “save face” by filing court documents to seek joint custody of the newborn girl. In addition, Dakota reportedly nipped the child support issue in the bud by claiming in filed legal documents that he makes $100,000 a year working construction and receives another $37,000 in disability from the Marine Corps. Under Alaska law, Dakota’s income would entitle Bristol to about $1,754 a month in child support, according to TMZ.

Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer broke up one week before their planned wedding last May, and a month later, the Dancing with the Stars alum revealed that she was pregnant. While many people were stunned by Bristol’s baby news, on her blog for Patheos.com last June, Bristol revealed that the pregnancy was actually planned by her and her fiancé before their split. Palin also admitted that her pregnancy was a huge disappointment to her family and friends, but it appears that everybody is happy now.
