What Happened To Shaylyn Ammerman? Baby Missing Nearly Two Days

Authorities in Spencer, Indiana, are looking for 1-year-old Shaylyn Ammerman. The little girl vanished over 30 hours ago while in the care of her grandmother Tamera Morgan, who last saw her in her crib early Wednesday morning. Now authorities and the media are fixated on finding the young girl, but what happened to her? The Indy Star reports that her loved ones believe someone came into the home and snatched her while the family slept.

Shaylyn was last seen by her grandmother at 1:30 a.m., which was the last time she checked on the 14-month-old baby before going to bed. However, that night, the missing child’s father had a party in the home. Several people, including the baby’s uncle and some of the father’s friends, were there.

This case has disturbing elements surrounding it, and people on social media are already speculating about the numerous possibilities behind the disappearance of Shaylyn Ammerman. Neighbors have seen evidence being removed from the home of the baby’s father. He has also been taken in for polygraph testing to aid in the investigation of his daughter’s mysterious disappearance.

Fox News 59 reports that the FBI has joined the search efforts in the disappearance of Shaylyn Ammerman. This could be indicative of possibilities that someone kidnapped the 14-month-old infant, but anything is possible in this developing case with such few details. Authorities have confirmed that they’ve used cadaver dogs, search dogs, sonar, and other resources in the search for baby Shaylyn. They’ve also confirmed that at least two or three polygraph tests have been administered over the course of this investigation. So far, no arrests have been made.

Shaylyn’s father, Justin Ammerman, says that he did not throw a party on the night of her disappearance. He believes that someone entered the front door of the home and kidnapped her while the family was sleeping. He also expressed the concern that someone may have a “grudge” against his family.

“Either somebody has a really, really big grudge over us or something, because I don’t see anybody in this town ever doing something like this.”

Shaylyn Ammerman weighs approximately 20 pounds and has dirty blonde hair with blue eyes. She was supposedly last seen wearing a white onesie with owls printed on it. Also missing with her is a white Winnie the Pooh blanket. This item has not yet been located, nor has the missing baby. Authorities in Indiana want anyone with possible information to contact them at (812) 829-3932.

Authorities have also explained through a briefing that this disappearance does not meet the criteria for an AMBER Alert. This is because no abduction was witnessed and there are no descriptions of a possible suspect or vehicle used in a possible kidnapping. In other words, authorities can’t be convinced that Shaylyn Ammerman was kidnapped, and they must thoroughly investigate her disappearance to find out exactly what happened to her.
