Emily Blunt Hits The Red Carpet With Hubby For First Time After Baby News

Emily Blunt made an appearance on the red carpet on Tuesday for the first time since announcing her pregnancy in January. The actress and her husband were at the Public Theater in New York for an opening night of John Krasinski’s play, Dry Powder, the Daily Mail said.

Her baby bump was clearly visible, and she had on a cape.

Krasinski’s play, which also stars Claire Danes, Hank Azaria, and Sanjit De Silva, will run through May 1. He joked about the show as he talked with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

“About two nights ago I walked out, and I was doing the play, and I felt really good—felt like I had a lot of good chatter in the audience…Everybody was laughing, talking to each other, and I was like, ‘I’m killing it!'” Krasinski explained, but it might not have been his performance that everyone was talking about.

“Nope! I come to find out my fly was open the whole time,” he revealed, laughing. “That’s so confidence building!”

Blunt revealed her bump the first time on the Oscars 2016. She had her first child in February 2014. Blunt’s film The Huntsman: Winter’s War will hit the theaters on April 22. The pretty actress would get busy promoting her movie soon.

The Inquisitr reported that Emily Blunt might just be the next Mary Poppins. The project would be directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marc Platt and John DeLucan. It’s been said that Emily Blunt was favorite right from the start. Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman will write the songs for the film. Marshall has directed several award-winning movies, including Chicago and Nine. He has said that the movie is going to be an “extension” of the earlier films, not a remake.

“It is not a new Mary Poppins,” he said. “PL Travers wrote eight books all together. They worked from the first book, and we are working from the other books, not touching the iconic brilliance of Mary Poppins.”

However, it has not been finalized whether the actress would play the role. That’s because she is expecting her second child soon, and that may play a huge part in deciding who the role goes to.

The original film was made in 1964 and had Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke as stars. The story revolves around a nanny, Mary Poppins, who works for a banker in pre-World War I England. The film featuring Julie Andrews was one of the biggest success stories of its times and got Andrews an Academy Award for the performance. It’s still not clear whether Blunt’s pregnancy is going to have an effect on the shoot. Blunt is not going to be the first to shoot while she’s pregnant. Kerry Washington, Kristen Bell, and Claire Danes have done it all too successfully in the past.

Marshall went on to say that he is also very good friends with Julie Andrews. He says he is a huge fan of the original movie and that he holds it in “such awe.”

He said that Marry Poppins was, in fact, the Harry Potter of its time and that there is a lot of material that hasn’t been worked upon.

“There is all this new material — it was the Harry Potter of its time — and they were never turned into anything further than that adventure.”

About Julie Andrews’ involvement in the project, he says, “She is a very dear friend, and if she could be involved in some way, it would be very special. I know she is very happy that we’re doing it and, after 50 years, feels that it is time.”
