Courtney Stodden was just 16 when she married actor Doug Hutchison, a man literally old enough to be her grandfather.
Courtney Stodden has been an aspiring fameball since she came to national attention, aged just 16 but sparking incredulity due to the fact that she appears to be much, much older. And not in the way that generally, albeit creepily, piques society. Stodden’s got a bit of a rough look about her that prompts equal measures of concern and disdain, and one might guess if one did not know nor hear of Courtney Stodden that she was, in fact, in her 30s or older.
Looks aside, Courtney Stodden became famous largely for the fact that she married a man in his 50s, one who could actually be her grandfather. Doug Hutchison, of Lost and The Green Mile, wed the woman who was nearly four decades his junior, and the pair began publicizing their generally off-putting relationship with a series of photo shoots that defied all notions of taste and decorum.
No, we are not linking to Courtney Stodden’s holiday horror-shoots. Yes, you have to go look for them yourself because, ew.
To clarify, I think hating on someone else’s marriage is wrong. I support gay marriage! I support poly marriage! I support any relationship in which two consenting adults love and support one another… but there is something so off, predatory and frightening about this pairing that it is impossible not to say “Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison are creepy creepersons.”
So Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison have been skirting propriety with their May-December relationship, in relentless pursuit of a reality show. And it appears that the pair have their wish, attending therapy for their marital troubles on the new VH1 reality show Couples Therapy.
Of the show’s premise, Stodden and Hutchison have indicated they belong on the show due to the “obvious problems in their relationship because of their age difference and the notoriety they’ve gotten because of their relationship.”
