Is Lil Wayne finally taking some well-earned time off from performing? Lil Wayne has been surprisingly absent from social media, and it appears that his performance at SXSW finally parked the tour bus for the month of March. On the other hand, Lil Wayne could be hiding out to avoid negative energy that seems to be surrounding him in the key areas of work, romance, and home.
Of course, fans can still see Lil Wayne in plenty of commercials, but his Twitter and Instagram have not had any updates about shows, interviews, or even a few snapshots of what is going on behind the scenes in his life.
What fans can see is that, after getting attention for his Super Bowl 50 commercial with the Apartments website, Lil Wayne picked up the pace with a Samsung Galaxy 7 commercial. This also allowed Lil Wayne to promote his appearance at the Samsung Galaxy Life Festival at SXSW on March 12.
Now, CNBC is saying that Lil Wayne made the Samsung commercial where he pours champagne on his phone go viral. They quote Samsung’s marketing officer, Marc Mathieu, stating that Lil Wayne was a key to their ad campaign because they wanted to “tell the Samsung brand story in new and humorous ways people can engage with.”
Of course, fans love Lil Wayne and his final show of his Dedication Tour in Lincoln, Nebraska, was legendary, according to reviews. Omaha World-Herald stated around March 6 that Lil Wayne’s performance put a spell on the audience and they were “dancing on their chairs, screaming every word and waving their hands in the air.”
However, with the exception of his performance at SXSW on March 13, Lil Wayne’s next performance is not until April 1 at University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
KATC reports that the concert is the end result of Lil Wayne’s Tidal Social Wave for Change initiative, and University of Louisiana at Lafayette was the winner out of 59 participating colleges. About the winners, Lil Wayne stated the following in an article he wrote for the Huffington Post.
“I can’t wait to head over there on April 1 to thank these young individuals for all the work they put in to do some good for the needy. I’m pumped to put on an epic performance, which will also be live streamed on Tidal.com for all y’all to see!”
Until April 1 he is enjoying his free time, but Lil Wayne (or one of his associates) has been staying in touch with fans by posting on his Facebook page.
For example, on March 23, Lil Wayne updated his Facebook page with an article about why the Bermuda Triangle might exist and captioned it with “That could explain it.”
The other big news in Lil Wayne’s life is that he has been added along with 2 Chainz and Usher to host the BET Awards, according to LA Times.
The performances that will be aired on BET for the awards ceremony will take place over several days, but the event that includes Lil Wayne will occur on June 25 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 7 p.m. and includes 2 Chainz.
This means that Lil Wayne does not have any scheduled performances between April 1 and June 25, according to his Facebook events page (as of March 23).
Sadly, in the meantime, Lil Wayne has also been dealing with problematic issues in the important areas of life: work, love, and housing. As it appears, things are not completely resolved for Lil Wayne with Birdman.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, Mannie Fresh has been working on Lil Wayne and Birdman resolving their personal issues that resulted in Lil Wayne bolting from his contract with Birdman and suing him for $51 million.
Although they have been working on their relationship, Mannie Fresh says it is still not over despite the fact that he recently told Genius in an interview that Lil Wayne and Birdman have at least agreed to “make music for the people” while they work out their differences.
Lil Wayne is also dealing with a mansion in Miami that still has not sold after being on the market for a year and having the price reduced twice. Originally listed for $18 million, Miami Curbed writes that the home is selling for $14 million, is located on La Gorce Island, and it has a skate park built on top of the roof.
Another possible key issue is that some feel that Christina Milian is still feeling singed by her romance with Lil Wayne. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, around March 17 Christina Milian posted a picture on social media that some feel was intended for Lil Wayne and captioned it with, “Once upon a time, you had my heart.”
