Samsung and Apple are undeniably the two largest smartphone manufacturers on the planet right now. For a good few years, they’ve been competing to create the best smartphone available on the planet. With the launch of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge variant, it appears that Samsung has now overtaken Apple in creating the world’s best smartphone.

The judgment over the new best smartphone comes from Consumer Reports, whose ratings consistently decide what is considered to be the best smartphone on the market. For a good few years, the latest variation of Apple’s iPhone has sat at the top of their ratings, but that’s no longer the case, with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge now assuming that position. Samsung’s smartphones have regularly come near the top of their lists in the past but have always fallen short of the top spot because of a few select shortcomings. The fact that their smartphones now sit atop Consumer Reports’ rankings is sure to be welcome news for Samsung. For a good few years, those rankings have told a very similar picture in the respect that while many of Samsung’s devices offer a good experience, it’s not an experience good enough to steal Apple’s place atop their leaderboards.
